This was the first Andy lee bout that I saw so I can't comment on the kids strengths and weakness', but based on this performance, I can see why he was hyped. He has an unusual stance. I was expecting a really slick and showboat type of fighter, but he seems to be all business in there. his footwork is a bit sluggish, and his handspeed wasn't there, but he was beating Vera to the punch and landed the better shots.

Get back to your mothers basement - what does that mean?

I never said Lee could beat Pavlik, but i did say he had the tools to compete with Pavlik - not the same thing.
Lee was terrible Friday night - if you had read my other posts on this topic you would have seen this.
Most of your posts are very knowledgeable and well written but i can't remember the last time you done anything but belittle every middleweight boxer not named Kelly Pavlik
BTW - check out my profile and see who is listed under favourite boxer

I've seen his last 5 or 6 fights and obviously they underestimated Vera.Every other guy Lee faced before Vera would have fallen from some of those shots.Vera really exposed Lee's flaws, bad footwork,no inside game, poor conditioning etc.
I couldn't understand why he didn't throw his right hook.
He showed a lot of heart and a decent chin but he has a lot of work to do.

Where the hell was the guy who was besting Taylor in sparring?

Let's be realistic for a moment. A fighter needs foot work, stamina, defense, a respectable jab, some power, hand speed, the ability to throw good meaningful combinations, and a decent chin. Andy Lee showed none of these atrributes. He lost to a fighter that Jaidon Codrington blew out in 2 rounds. A guy who was hand picked to make him look good on national television. Lee looked like an average Friday Night Fights prospect. This was the first time he fought someone his own size with a winning record, and it quickly became clear that he is not ready for "C" level journeyman let alone elite fighters. I'm not going to write him off just yet, but the kid needs a lot of improvement before he can even beat legitemate gate keepers like Eastman or Campus.

Look -- I was hoping Lee would turn out to be the real thing. I saw his television debut, and was impressed. I make no secret of the fact that I hold Pavlik in very high regard. However, I would love to see someone come along and give him a run for his money at 160. The better the competition, the better a fighter's legacy. Unless some youngster comes out of nowhere, everyone at 160 is easy prey for Pav. Maybe I'm being a bit hard on Lee because of the level of disappointment. I said before the fight that I expected Lee to walk through Vera with relative ease. Obviously that didn't happen. I think a rematch with Vera at this point is foolish. If he looses again, he's ****ed. If he wins, oh well - he beat Brian Vera; so what, he won a fight he always should have won.

Lee needs to fight Vera again and get that ****** off his back.If he loses find another career, this is an unforgiving business.
At least Lee will now realise how tough this game is and he will never again enter the ring in poor conditioning and underestimating his opponent.Pavlik will be at 168 in about 18-24 months and the division will be wide open

Well -- you may be right. Anthony Thompson is still catching flack over his loss to Grady Brewer. However, the only way a Vera/Lee rematch turns out good for Andy is if he just totally outclasses Vera, and blows him out in just a few rounds.

He was? Could've fooled me. Lee's handspeed was terrible, IMO. So was his footwork, defense, and head movement. Vera didn't look like a world beater, but he found to back up a taller fighter by doubling up on his jab and working on the inside. For all of Lee's offensive prowess, Vera neutralized it and Lee showed he couldn't answer Vera's attack. I can't say that Andy Lee is more skilled.

    Would'a, Could'a, Should'a....

And he was slow, and he was tired from the 3rd round on, and he didn't know how to tie up Vera, and got backed up, and he dropped his hands...

I'm certainly not saying Lee's career is over, but he isn't anything close to the sensation people were making him out to be. Not even close.

Why? StewarD has been around the fight game long enough to know that crap happens.

Lee does have some talent and the fight was stopped early. He deserves a quick rematch with Vera to get his cache back.

What a freakin upset, damn good fight too. I always thought Lee didnt "look" like a fighter, if he gets pummeled by a guy with the skill of Vera - it doesnt look good for him as a real contender.

Lee just plain doesnt have it.
    Too many flaws.
And now that Vera has knocked him out, if they fight against he will have a ton of confidence and would probably walk right thru Lee in a much more devastating fashion.
For Lee fans the fight was obviously disappointing.
But remember --- if it looks like a duck and talks like a duck and fights like a duck ---- THE GUY IS A ****IN DUCK"' and not a contender.
Lee's record has been based on opponents that have been fed to him.
    Check it out.
