I have just read through this thread, and there was barely a positive remark made about any of the broadcast, or the boxers involved. In actual fact, there seemed to be an apparent ant-Irish feeling here.

I hope you have learnt something here Big Ears.:deal

Jimmie Magee makes me cringe most the time!!

Jesus Jimmy just shut up from time to time!

Hes so biased its a disgrace

Anyways, Lee was good, really felt it was his best performance to date that i have seen anyways
The leading right was useful and the left straights were on target most the time

In one round he looked similar to Mayweather and i was enjoying it, obviously there are huge differences but for a minute there was a similarity... Lee poked out the jab to fend off and picked off Gibbs at will

Brilliant in general but against a real world class (Gibbs is good no doubt, but say Abraham) id like to see Lee use more punches, the left uppercut, the short right hooks and in theory 'mix it up' a bit

Very impressed and a good fight

Sorry I have commented in so many places on the fights that I didn't know where I had and where I hadn't left comments .

I thought Lee boxed very well and as expected, he's learned how to tie up which is a big positive . However if he doesn't learn how to fight on the inside for at least periods of a fight he'll never live up to his potential . I'd like to see Howard Eastman as his next opponent .

McCloskey boxed totally the wrong fight but still won(I had it 96-94), he won the first two rounds clearly when he was his usual self boxing from the outside and using his reflexes to make his opponent miss and make them pay .

After that he fought mainly on the inside which doesn't really suit him and to tell the truth he didn't seemed conditioned enough for a fight like that . In bursts he looked decent inside when he threw hard and often but overall he just couldn't maintain that and being so close to Wright eliminated McCloskey's best feature(his head movement) . However he definitely won the fight and should have learned a lot from it .

Nerrad you're only the second person I've seen who thought Wright won, if you had it 97-93 Wright that means you only gave McCloskey 1 of the last 8 which is crazy . 97-93 or 96-94 are acceptible scores for the fight, it was close but giving it to right would've been robbing McCloskey of a deserved win .

http://www.rte.ie/sport/other/audiovideo_index.html the fight is available there for those that want to watch it and make up their own mind .

Marty I don't care if the people here are anti-Irish, once they watch the fights I'll be happy .

Hey this isn't an Irish forum, I don't expect people to be jumping up and down with joy at these fights . I know plenty of people here probably enjoyed Dunne and Lee's defeat aswell as Duddy's **** up against Smichet .

But who gives a ****, that's their perogative and it doesn't effect me .

I'm not having a go at anyone in particular, we're all here for the same reason(our love of boxing) and on these forums that's all I care about .

I post links to these Irish cards merely because I feel as boxing fans people will enjoy them .

Anyway lets get back to discussing the fights themselves and away from this stupid argument .

What do people reckon McCloskey should do next, go for Branco/Barnes ?

Branco could be an easier fight than Barnes. But it will be hard to coach any of those two champions to come to Ireland.:hi:

Think Branco and Witter are in negotiations over the latter challenging for European Title - if no agreement reached purse bids called mid August.

Apparently Barnes is due to defend British Title against Lynes by end of November.
