Who do you thinks wins between Andy Lee and Kid Chocolate? If they fight I believe the winner should get the chance to fight Martinez for the belt?
Wow....I checked back here expecting to see more replies to what I perceive as a very interesting match-up.
I like Andy Lee but he didnt take Vera Punches well in the first fight and got stopped he did look like a new man the second time however i think Kid Chocolate ko's him late to much power for Kid Chocolate
????? You kidding me? Lee took about 20 of Veras power punches flush in the face and never went down. No no no. Problem was he got involved in a brawl and gassed. Poor stamina, underestimated his opponent. inexperience, and let the crowd get to him in his debut. But one thing Lee showed that night (think it was 3.5 years now) was serious chin and heart. Peter Quillin did well the other night though. And in previous fights he really looks the part. That said, McEwan should not have been stopped. Also some headbutt's, though accidental, didn't help McEwan's cause either. I think Kid Chocolate is exciting though and will go far. I say make this fight happen. Or at the very least, against a Macklin or a Golovkin to see how good he is.
He didnt go down but he still didnt take his punches well he was wobbled half a dozen times, Lee has heart he does and Mcewan should have not be stopped that was way two fast but I like Quillin power and i think when push comes to shove in a close fight the irish in andy lee will want to brawl and he'll get caught
Would be a gppd fight. I doubt that Lee's people would take it, since he pretty much has a guaranteed title shot on the horizon.
Agreed, I doubt it will happen soon but who knows? It's still a fight that could possibly make sense in 2012 depending where the chips fall, and I can envision several different routes by which that point could be reached.
I'd go with Lee too. Great punch resistance and a hard hitter himself. The first loss to Vera had a lot to do with conditioning and poor strategy. Still he was never on the kanvas, and was still throwing when it was stopped. Against McEwan he got drawn into the same trap and again poor conditioning nearly cost him. He was lucky to get the KO. But against Vera last time out he showed that when he just boxes, he can put on a show. As long as he continues to be clever about his strategy for fights he can go on and do some big things. I think he'd beat Quillin.
Good post. To reiterate what I said before, I really think the experience factor definitely gives Lee an edge. This would be an intriguing match-up, and the clash of one Hall of Fame trainer against another trainer soon to be there would be terrific.
Just wondering Rummy, what advantages does Lee have that pushes Lee over the edge into the winners circle in this fight, besides experience? I'm not dogging you or your prediction, of course I respect it, and I do like Lee, but I just have a hard time picturing him beating Quillin.
