He's better than McEwan. I don't like Sergio or his style, but he gave Vernon some good challenges and a shot Shane too.
He gave Vernon a hard time when he was hurt, when Vernon recouped the 2nd fight he easily handled Mora. Mora's style was always all wrong for a person like Shane.
Andy Lee looked amazing in his last fight; however, I still question his ability to get a man out. Vera took a signficant amount of punishment in that fight to his credit, he kept coming foward and never really appeared to be hurt. Now Vera may well be that tough a fighter as he also beat Mora, but it was a fight I did not see, but Mora in my opinion probably beat Shane Mosley. Shane Mosley just didn't seem to have his legs in the sense that his punches just couldn't generate the steam that they were supposed to against a relatively light punching fighter who is a good counterpuncher and has very good defense considering his limitations in punching power. While Andy Lee may not prove to be the finisher that Wladimir Klitschko is, he defenitely has more moves. That left uppercut he landed against Vera pretty consistantly was an amazing display; as is to be expected in the lower weight classes where skill is a necessity if one wishes to challenge a fighter with an advantage in size and athleticism. Honestly, I was late with the HBO presentation so, I'll turn back and give KC another evaluation before I can really comment on the outcome of this fight. But I can say the last Lee I saw is a dangerous opponent for anybody in the division.
I despite the guy, but he's a good fighter. (just not great...and he's actually called himself great on the basis of having a win and a draw over HOF legends Forrest & Mosley atsch...nevermind that the Forrest he beat was past it and took him lightly, and subsequently schooled him in a rematch...and that the Mosley he drew with was already shot to **** and officially done, since round 4 against PBF).
I wasn't saying that they are a step below lee (theya re same level), But Lee is known in US where in case you haven't notice nearly all the exposure is at. - you need to take your EasternEuropean tinted glasses off and realise that good as Golovkin is, he hasn't fought in the USA where the level of competition is better.
Shouldn't he fight a top 10 guy first? I don't get that formula: victory over an unknown youngster (McEwan) + win over a tough journeyman (Vera) = title shot?
I'd love to see that fight. I miss when a fight like Lee-Quillin would have to happen to decide a title challenger- now, both guys will likely get their shot at a belt without having to face each other. Or any other legit top middleweight contender for that matter.
Boxing has gone from mirroring unspoiled nature (culling of the herd, survival of the fittest) to resembling more of a domesticated preserve, with nothing but canned hunts for its thoroughbreds. :verysad
Based out of US Martinez, Quillin, Lee, Mcewen, Jacobs, Chavez, Rubio Based out of Europe Pirog, N'jikam, Golovkin, Khurtsidze, Macklin, Sturm, Barker, Proksa, Zbik, Sylvester, Bursak *Geale* You were saying? Keep sucking yank **** ya dumb mick.
Actually Macklin has now moved to US. and Sylvester/Sturm when was last time they fought outside of Germany. When was last time N'jikam fought outside of France? Geale is not based in Europe either you fool. Zbik got beaten by JCCJR and Barker beaten by Martinez. thanks for proving my point:hi:
