Yes, I cant understand why any fight fan wouldnt want to see 2 exciting fighters in the top 10 fight each other. It doesnt happen as much as it should As Ive said before, sanctioning bodies arent high on the list of things I care about in boxing. If this was for NO title, Id still think it was a great fight. The trinket attached is fairly irrelevant to me. The fighters make the fights. The trinkets are becoming less and less meaningful.
Quillen will get his WBO middleweight title back and become a two-time world champ. Al Haymon is a genius.
of course froch wanted a rematch before ward's career faltered, you can't chase inactive fighters. a points win without hurting your opponent is not a whooping. here you go: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=508348 point out the word for word bit, there's a good chap. now try to back up your claims, you liar. and how's about you try to answer my questions for a change? was ward available, and did he want froch when he asked for truax and sartisan?
Wait, before I look at this thread, Ill go back to the point you mention at the end. Ive said this before, but it bares repeating, what difference does it even make if Ward was available or not?(I actually dont know, he says he was, but he wasnt fightinbg, so lets say he wasnt) What difference does that point actually make? Froch and Hearn have been saying for about 2 years that they didnt want to fight Ward. Whether he was active/inactive, Froch and Hearn were still quite public about not wantinhg to fight Ward, for the reasons I outlined(not enough money) At no point have I ever heard Froch or Hearn say "We want to fight Ward, but hes not fighting" Ok, now, let me have a look at this thread of yours...
ok, Im not reading all 17 pages. Give me a page and comment where I "lied" Im well into it, and I see myself saying 1)Froch never wanted to fight Ward in a rematch. I stand by that(and so does Hearn and Froch himsel) 2) I see myself saying that Frochs team never entered into any negotiations or tried to make a fight with Ward(I stand by that) ...still reading
I'm not a fan of Quillin, I think he gets rocked by a surprise shot but is given the benefit of the doubt by the ref before being stopped mid-fight.
If hes one of the best 10 fighters in the division, he belongs in the top 10 list. Im not talking about silly sanctioning bodies lists, Im talking about the ACTUAL top 10. His actions outside the ring dont change the fact that this fight is a good fight.
I dont disagree with any of that. What annoyed me for quite a long time is that many people on this forum pretended the reason Froch-Ward 2 never happened was because Ward didnt want to travel, and not that maybe Froch and Hearn thought other fights would be better for Froch to take. The whole "Ward wont travel to Nottingham to fight Froch" theory was quite big on here at one time. Apparently my mentioning that Froch-Ward 2 would never happen because Froch didnt want to fight Ward(because there wasnt enough money in it, and it was far too risky) was taken as me gravely insulting Froch, and I was basically a troll for doing so.
No, I cant tell how 1)Me wanting fighters to be well paid is inconsistent with 2) The same fighters having the right to turn down a contract should they so choose. Doesnt matter if its 1.4 million or 14 million. The guy has the right to turn it down. His decision.
He did? Show me the most convincing video or article where Froch calls Ward out. Not a "Yeah, it'd be nice to fight him...but he doesnt really bring a lot of money....and theres other fighters out there.....and hes not really active right now.....I dont think he can make 168.....but yeah, Id like to fight him. Yes, what difference does it actually make if Ward was available if Hearn and Froch have both been saying for quite a long time that they dont want to fight him? It didnt just start a couple of weeks ago. They've been saying the same thing for a couple of years.
