Great that he is been so active of late, but he is fighting rubbish fighters at this stage of his career. The guy he is fighting next saturday night in Germany was stopped by Golovkin in his 3rd pro fight !. And its a bit worrying too that a guy who is 6 years into a pro career is still fighting scheduled 8 rounders, still think he has serious stamina issues which were clear in the Vera and Belgencham fights. Seems to be suffering from the fact that he has no real fixed promoter. Even talk of a rematch with Vera in february, why? Has no relevance, Lee should be well past that at this stage. Vera isn't even top 20 in the division.

I can only see the Vera fight as Lee looking for closure. Sometimes a man cannot move on till he goes back and puts the wrongs of the past right. I agree with you, but maybe Lee wants this.

Obviously the Irish lads can expand on it more, i don't really take notice of Lee to be fair.

But his choice of opponents at this stage is dissapointing. The Martinez fight seems to be more than just rumour, DiBella has spoke a lot about it, but Lee would be totally underprepared, inexperienced and just soundly beaten really.

I totally agree with you, i don't really bother watching the lad because he rarely fights anyone that excites or makes me think ''yeah good fight''. I'd like to see him step it up majorly but for whatever reason he stays fighting a really poor standard of opposition.

Lee has been a pro for 4 years, not 6.

He should have got an EBU title shot after beating Belgecham but for some reason Belgecham got it instead, so it's not like he isn't looking for title opportunities.

I agree on the stamina issue although he has been working on his conditioning so that may well improve.

He may be fighting below par opposition but he is staying active and has one or two good fights lined up, Vera and then maybe Duddy. These are two good fights that could get him exposure and maybe a world title shot down the line.

Rematching Vera makes perfect sense, avenging a loss is always a good thing imo.

    Bingo!

    He is still young.

I think he beat himself against Vera as opposed to Vera beating him and now its a ****** on his back. He has wanted to avenage that fight ever since and has made no less than 5 offers to Vera's team for a rematch, offering more money than other fights that Vera took and lost. He needs Vera to clean the slate and move forward.

Sure the guys he has been fighting recently have not been in his class but he wanted the rounds, money and experience. They were all in quick succession and they were for a reason. He was basically sitting on the subs bench for a schedule middleweight world title fight and would have slotted in there if one of the protaganists dropped out.

He offered to fight Barker for the vacant EBU title. Barker ducked him, that is a fact, Barker fans may not like it but its the truth. Who did Barker fight instead? A guy Lee had just convincingly beaten. Embarrassing.

He now has Urbanski, who I think the original poster does a disservice to.

"The guy he is fighting next saturday night in Germany was stopped by Golovkin in his 3rd pro fight"

Is that a positive or a negative? Is that all you have to say about Urbanski? Golovkin is the WBA champion and bangs everyone out. Is it a disgrace to get stopped by this guy if you are thrown in with him in only your third fight?

Granted, I never really heard of the guy until last week but I have watched all his fights that are on YouTube. He looks a really good fighter and I think that this will be Lee's toughest fight yet.

Urbanski is unbeaten in his last ten, he is the WBC Baltic champion (I am not a fan of the regional titles but before you scoff have a look at the holders that title) and his losses have only been to unbeaten fighters.

There is often a lot of cynicism with regards Lee's career, probably largely due to Manny Steward's crazy hyping of the Limerick lefty, but I think it is unwarranted and I am happy with here he is going.

He has Urbanski, Vera and potentially Duddy all coming in the next six months. If he gets through all them then he is on the cusp of a world title fight.

    :good

How does beating Urbanski, Vera and Duddy prepare him though for making a good challenge to a world champion? You could actually say Lee is as ready for a world title shot now if you reckon he is on the cusp of one if he beats those 3. My point is experience wise he is not gaining anything by beating those 3. Gets rounds yes. Quality opponents preparing him for a world title challenge ? No.
