He probably will get a trinket one day but he is not even remotely close to the fighter Steward wanted us to believe he was.

Personally I do actually like him..despite his glaring flaws that obviously he is unable to rectify.

 

He Looked Absolutely AWFUL...Just down-Right Dreadful!!! Lucky for him that he was fighting another fighter who was Just as Horrifically FLAWED!!!! Look, I get it...Not everyone is going to be born with Supreme Athletic Ability. But Defense and Conditioning is something you do have control over and you can train to master....if not master, at least learn it, work on it and implement it as part of your strategy.

I first saw Lee and McEwan a few years back...And my initial thought was: "Man, if these guys ever add some defense and stop taking so many damn punches, they may be major players in the Sport". Fast-Forward to March of 2011....SAME ****!!!!

 

I've watched Andy Lee for a few years and he has great style. He is a very old fasioned stylistic boxer and against mid-level opponants he has great ability in slipping punches and counterting with the straight. But, someone like Lemiuex for example would only have to go in there for a minute before wrecking him. He wouldn't be able to control the agression his own way and he would just take several shots quickly and be either TKOed or be KOed pretty badley. I'm a massive fan of both but really it just wouldn't happen for Lee, although I'd love if it did. He's a great fighter and it's good to see him get his name more recognized, especially since I've watched him go from Irish name to American name, but he just is not world class in my opinion.

 

Andy Lee's problem is that he doesent have the appeal that John Duddy had. He is undoubtably a better fighter, but John Duddy was awesome to watch as you could bring a baseball bat into the fight and the guy would still seemingly walk through it. Duddy got his shot because we all wanted to watch him box, and Andy Lee in the big stage is just not going to be as appealing as a fighter than Duddy was.

Lee should stay away from Martinez, that's for sure! He looked good in the first round, looked awful for about 4 rounds, then came back. That is the worst I have ever seen him fight though.

 

Look up the euro style and there is a picture of lee. Straight up style, no movement, lacks defense, 1 shot at a time. Euro level at its finest

 

After rounds 2,3,4,5 Lee got back on track. He will learn from this fight, esp. while watching the video.

 

Over all it was a poor performance from Lee but I think it says a lot that he was able to dig deep against decent undefeated opposition and carve out a win when things weren't going his way.

I agree that he's well off Martinez at the moment but I think it's very evident that Martinez is head and shoulders above the rest of the division. There's even talk out there now that he's the P4P no. 1 so you have to put comparisons with Lee into perspective. I'd like to see him fight Kelly Pavlick and then go for a title.
