Joey Gamache is working together with Emanuel Steward i believe. But nothing wrong to work with Gamache. Great experience boxer.
I agree with you there. I think that has more to do with the fact that he fights like some sort of a stereotype and doesn't fight the way he should fight. "Lookie me! I'm an Irishman who likes to get into brawls for me fans! I may not make it anywhere but I'll give it a show ho ho!" I'm not asking him to be Pernell Whitaker or even Paul McCloskey (an Irish fighter who isn't as skilled as Lee but is far superior technically)...but I definitely think if he used his strengths instead of trying to go out there and fight like Ricardo Mayorga and put on "entertaining fights", he'd be farther along in his development. At the same time though it's hard to hate on a guy who's trying to put on fun fights. It has nothing to do with his skills. They're good enough that I could easily see him as a top 10 MW someday...but he needs to learn that his skill set (a face that cuts a lot, a potential weakness in the chin department) doesn't behoove him to be a bar room brawler.
I have not heard or read anything on andys next move. I also dont get the hate the for andy even from some of the irish. another funny thing is andy finished his last two fights without a mark or cut on him yet he gets hit too much.....[he also has never been down so chin aint a problem]
I'm sorry I'm defending Lee in this thread but are we really going to deny he isn't deficient when it comes to his defense?
Andy lee has never been down so his chin aint a problem, he gets hit too much when he decides to brawl aka his 1st loss. the major problem i see with lee is his stamina , when lee gets tired he falls apart and can be hit and bossed around a ring , i have watched many of his fights many times and when lee gets tired is when lee starts to have major problems.
I've seen him wobbled/hurt by lesser fighters such as Vera and Gibbs. I don't think his chin is a weakness just yet but it is suspect. Until he takes a big punch from a big puncher, it's going to be a consistent question mark. The thing is he's so skilled that it wouldn't even have to get to that point.
lee has the skills offensivley but he really needs to sort out his defence he has the talent, power and heart but just needs to work on the defence
But that isn't the be all end all. You can still get hurt and recover quickly/play keep away. Just because he didn't eat canvas against Vera and gibbs doesn't mean he didn't find himself in trouble because he was hurt.
I can never see lee getting sparked out like amir khan, taking a beating yes but spark out no way sir.
