I read in an interview middleweight Andy Lee thinks this will be a huge year for him. After a brutal 2008 the defeat by vera and the long lay off due to eye injuries he is boxing this week back in Ireland against a good German fighter.A win here sets him up for a possible european title fight later in the year.
What fights do you think he needs to reach the top ten?Can he reach the top ten?
I think capture the euro crown and then fight Rubio or Griffin will do it for him...

you know, tbh i think this will be duddys year and not lees. i def didnt like what i saw against the c fighter in vera but he may bounce back. i just think duddys got a thicker hide on him. we'll see. like em both and need to see more of them.

I know Andy since 3 years. He is really a very nice person and he is a guy, he works really hard for his dream to be a world champion. I'm pretty sure 2009 will be his year. He is very young and he is a very good fighter to beat the middleweight champions :D Andy has a really good chance to beat Sipos because he worked with Emanuel Steward last year and he sparred with Andy, so he knows him very good. I will cross all my fingers for him :happy:bbb

Andy made a youngsters mistake of under estimating vera hes learned from that mistake..... Lets not forget it was a soft stoppage Lee landed the last punch before the stoppage.....

IMO hes learned alot from that fight

you probably havent seen his fight agains willy gibbs that came after the loss. youtube that **** !

I agree 2009 will be Duddys year hes going to be kept very busy and im looking forward to it

Lee is not ready for Pirog, not yet!

Lee's upcomming fight with Sipos will tell us more about his future at middle weight.
Sipos is a busy fighter with a good chin,a kind of gatekeeper.Good enough to beat the pretenders, but not good enough to beat a true diamond.

It's to early for Andy to fight against a middleweight champ but I hope for him that his next fights will be great and the end of the year he will be the middleweight champ of the world :happy

I think Brian Peters [Promoter] has some big plans for Lee to fight in Limerick in the summer, after this fight on Saturday. Lee is quality and will eventually get to the top, but it might not be this year.:deal

Does he not have to have more than half his fights in europe before he can challenge for the title. I think i read Duddy can't go down this root because of the same reason.

Andy's loss to Vera has some serious irony in it. Top Rank was ready to sign Andy to a 4 fight deal. The package included appearances on at least 2 Pavlik undercards, and a fight with Pavlik. All Andy had to do was beat Vera who was hand picked to make him look good. Andy went in there with his head full of Steward's bull****, and got his ass handed to him. Now here's the irony; that version of Andy Lee would have taken a career threatening beating from Pavlik. The loss probably saved his career. I hope they continue to keep Andy somewhat under the radar for a few more fights. Start steppng him up in 2010. It looks like they are developing Andy the right way now, and I hope that continues. The kid has a ton of potential.

Andy should fight some euro-ranked dude after beating Sipos.

Sipos isn´t ranked by EBU anymore, so Lee will need better scalps before he can rely on getting the Euro title fight.

Perhaps Lee could meet Matthew Macklin for his British belt next summer, and then proceed to European title before the end of the year.

However, I think it might go to 2010.

Sipos is a very decent boxer with a relatively high workrate and little pop in his fists. Lee should be able to beat him.

Hey look, I found a picture of Andy Lee

Seriously though, he has talent, but there are some serious issues (probably caused by Manny Steward) with his footwork and stance that need to be corrected before he can get back up to the highest level.
