Thought this was pretty interesting, I think his comparisons are pretty much spot on to be honest...

    Q) If the current men's top four tennis players were boxers (past or present) who would they be? (@alex_joynson)
"I'd say Roger Federer would be like Sugar Ray Leonard, renowned for his style. Rafael Nadal would be like Manny Pacquiao; ferocious, powerful and relentless. Novak Djokovic would be like Roberto Duran; as tough and versatile as they come. I'll pick Floyd Mayweather for myself; he's my favourite boxer to watch."

He seems to love boxing more than tennis, bit weird.

Weirdly enough I was actually thinking about how Murray's tennis style would compare to a boxer the other day & I thought of Mayweather too. In terms of actual styles, they both like to counter and are really good defensively whilst they lose a bit of their effectiveness when looking to attack IMO. Of course, in terms of respective ability, Mayweather is clearly a bit more advanced in his sport than Murray is currently but then again, Murray's tennis era is stronger.

Decent comparisons I'd say there from Murray overall

Murray is way better than Ricky Hatton comparatively, he's a fantastic player and talent and in any other era would have won multiple slams.

If you put mayweather in an era with Leonard and Duran he probably wouldn't be the best...

I don't think it's fair to compare Murray to Hatton. No disrespect to Hatton, but he's never ranked pound 4 pound as highly as Murray ranks in tennis. Hatton would have to have been one of the three or four best in the world

When he loses in slams it has practically always been federer or nadal and more recently djokovic.

One of whom is widely considered the greatest ever and the other is widely expected to catch up with federers record.

A lot of past players feel the same about Murray...

Nadal always reminded me of Cotto, both so focussed, determined, powerful, aggressive.

Murray is like a defensive counter-puncher with a glass mind, hopefully he's past that now because he sadly has been a bottler far too often on the big occasions

You could compare Murray to the young version of Marquez......

    Nadal could be Erik Morales....

I like the Djokovic - Duran comparison, both been known to quit but then came back stronger.

I like Murray, because being the 4th best tennis player with his mindset is some achievement !

Ive yet to see someone so highly ranked in their sport be as mentally weak as him.

I firmly believe that if he changed his negative mindset and actually went out and tried to blast a Federer off court and not bemoan every other shot when things get a little tough ... he could actually win a few slams.

If he could harness all that negative energy he wastes on court into positive energy then he could beat anyone because the guy has real talent.
