It's not great, but it doesn't completely shut his brain down every time he gets hit like Price or Hide. It's his response after getting hurt that's the real problem. His body just stiffens up and starts expending huge energy to the point where he becomes a walking punch bag for three or more rounds. Against Wlad and Whyte he was able to recover and come back from the brink of defeat, but Ruiz was just putting it on him and not giving him a breather. It was the constant pressure that eventually did him in, not the damage so much.
