C'mon now AJ blamed everything from a lucky punch to getting KD in sparring and being concussed lol

The difference was more due to Joshua. This was the first fight of his where he's moved like this and fought on the back foot. If Joshua used the same tactics from the first fight this version of Ruiz would have as good as a chance as last time.

I posted this on Friday and Montero first said this months ago

Manny Robles seems to be confirming that

He didn't train at all for this fight and just thought he would land the KO punch. He let fame get to his head and fans too ate it up. Like he could just get of his couch and land another KO.

I honestly don't seeing him making waves in the division cause of his lack of motivation. If he wasn't motivated for the AJ match I don't see how he gets motivated for fights that are lower in pay and of little interest. Hope he proves me wrong but I have a feeling the good life will ruin his boxing career.

Discipline is half the battle. Especially at HW.

    Let the excuses flow.

Joshua said "fair play to Andy he was the better man on the night. We'll see what happens next time." After his defeat.

Not straight away after the fight he didn't. That came months later after he'd been asked the same question 52,000 times lol.

    Post-fight Ruiz presser:
    This content is protected

Reporter says Ruiz apologized to his trainer (for being out of shape)
Ruiz saying he blew it, with his poor conditioning
Seems to confirm what Montero said (see Serge post above) -- guy gets lazy and loses focus

I said in another thread that I don't think Ruiz would have done better just by being lighter. Without working on cutting off the ring, it wouldn't matter IMO.

But, he says in the presser that he didn't throw as much because of fatigue from the weight gain. I could see that. Still don't think it would have changed much, but you never know.

He thought the fight would be easy. Even his trainer says in the press conference that they knew Joshua would move more, but they thought he would stand and trade a lot, too.

So, basically, the fighter blew it by not training properly. And the team blew it by not gameplanning properly.

    Total team failure here.

AJ also had excuses after his loss. They all do. It should be expected but not accepted. It's shameful IMO because Ruiz went into this fight acting like he could care less because he's thinking he will get another payday in the trilogy which I hope it doesn't happen. It will be similar to the rematch.

Really AJ blew it in the first fight Ruiz was to just turn up to hand the belts back in the second.

It all went to script tbh...

too late in the day, he needs to prove himself and work his way back up now. He is making himself look terrible saying this stuff, losing a lot of respect for the guy.
