Just now seeing this. What a stupid jacktail. Rarely do I drop a fighter's stock over one fight. But based on this post fight presser? He should have?

A completely moronic thing to say. I could see through all that humble act bull, he got a taste of the life and indulged like the glutton he is. Saying he’ll be different in the third fight trying to get another payday. I don’t dislike Ruiz but when you’re getting paid top dollar at least respect the sport by bothering to come to the fight in some sort of decent shape.

I had respect for DLH because he continued to fight even though the Golden boy had $$. I Got ridiculed for it because he never won the big one. Yet he continued to fight with millions in the bank. As George Foreman stated on a view broadcasts he admired Oscar -asking what U did: who can get up out a huge bed with satin sheets at 4am in the morning and still want to fight?

I remember when Floyd was on the undercards, making what he called chump change, no PPV. But after DLH he got that big PPV, then another. YET! No over eating. No alcohol...even though he went clubbing.

Hopkins another- got that Payday against Tito Could have lost focus just like Douglas or Andy.

Ruiz proved the naysayers right. He didn't have what it takes. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. $7 & 13 million, whew! a lot! But to say he should have trained harder. Good for him enough people called him a one hit wonder, so in a few years his name will be mentioned in a game of Jeopardy few will get right.

If the fighter himself doesn't have the discipline and desire to get into shape then it doesn't matter what his team says or does. I get the feeling that a lot of Ruiz's more responsible team members make excuses to take heat off him, but at the end of the day it's the fighter's decision who he has around him and what he does in camp.

I suspect the man's an absolute nightmare to do anything with, and doesn't seem to have the intelligence to realise you can't half ass it at this level and expect to keep winning. Regardless, he's about sixty to seventy pounds overweight, so he'd have to drop a phenomenal amount before it starts to make a real positive impact on his performance. He was 255 against Parker and lost that one as well. He's just a fatass period.

 

Wasn’t it AJ who was apparently gonna come out with all the excuses after the fight? It’s funny how it all works out.

I recall saying (before the rematch!) that Ruiz Jr. comes across as a very low IQ individual. He's smug, arrogant with a very, very limited mindset.
