I can see that his fans are turning on him after the defeat. It's only natural. He disappointed you and you blame him for your poor judgement.

That's why I was never a fan of Ruiz. I saw an undisciplined athlete, who never cared about getting in shape his ENTIRE career. He's your typical talented under achiever, just doing enough to get by but never enough to be at his best.

As an athlete, being is shape is the minimum requirement. Can you imagine Usain Bolt or Roger Federer making that excuse? I didn't train properly because I was too busy partying? It's pathetic.

I truly believed he could have knocked AJ out again if he was around 240-250 lbs. But we'll never know since he's a slacker in the gym and never got in shape. He doesn't deserve a 3rd fight. If he get back in title contention again, he need to work his way back up. Get in fighting shape and beat some contenders and then maybe I'll be interested in seeing a 3rd fight.

First ever Mexican Heavyweight Champ, he was the toast of the town where ever he went.
To have that come upon you suddently and unexpectedly, because believe me I don't think Ruiz really thought he'd beat Joshua the first time.

…...anyways, to beat a fighter so much taller than yourself who you know his gameplan will be to constantly lateral sticking and moving.....
you have to be able to press forward and cutoff the ring.
Ruiz was already to heavy the weight he came in the first fight, but then to add 15 more pounds for the second fight knowing Joshua's gameplan will be to run?????
Andy Ruiz really put himself in a bad situation.

Ideally Andy Ruiz should have soaked up that win up and taken a few months off before even thinking about preparing for a rematch, but of course money talks, especially someone who's never had a big payday like Andy Ruiz.
Shades of Roberto Duran after his victory over Sugar Ray Leonard, both fighters got so much out of shape before starting training camp for the rematch that it was impossible to get themselves into the kind of shape they were in for the first fight.

I'm happy for Andy Ruiz that he was the first Heavyweight champ in history, but there's that old saying that its harder to stay on top than it is to get there. Its only those special fighters who are dedicated and are disciplined that are able to stay at the top for an extended period.
That just wasn't going to be Andy Ruiz.

Where does he go from here? He seems delusional in thinking he can do a trilogy with Joshua. I think he probably gets fed some guy like Gerald Washingron and then gets a Wilder fight if Widler beats Fury.

I think Ruiz was over confident thinking AJ will eventually become stationary and he will be able to hit him. He underestimated AJ's ability to dance for the entire fight and that is what cost him badly

Said it in another thread but I'll repeat it.

Ruiz is weighing in 300lbs for his next fight and will certainly be upset as the main attraction on some depressing DAZN card in the near future.

He probably does know that he F'd it up. The thing is, if he doesn't have the mental capacity to dedicate himself to defend the lottery ticket he just won.....then there's not a snowballs chance in hell that he trains for his next fight where he's earning maybe a fifth (or likely less) of the money he made for this rematch.

He's getting sparked out or utterly schooled in his next fight.

Yep. Then Wilder lays him out quickly and everyone starts applying triangle theories.

Another fighter you only love because of some outdated sense of shared heritage.

Anyway you best hope the Professor doesn't see your especially lame violation of the word filter. I've taken it out of my reply to give you a sporting chance.

Rooting for Ruiz, hope he comes back. But as others have said, motivation and discipline are obviously a huge problem for him.

Ruiz Sr. should be ashamed for letting his son fight in such bad shape.

Has he actually apologized yet for his shocking condition? I refuse to listen to a word of him.

Which fighter do you think I do that with? Be interested to hear your thoughts on this.

And funny about editing my post down when quoting me but I'll give you a pass there. I don't like seeing anyone get booted for something as dumb as that.
