I like Ruiz in the ring (well, everything prior to this recent debacle) but I can't help but think he's simple asf and therefore has limited self-awareness. a team of pro's trying their damnedest to help him can only work insofar that he's willing to make the sacrifice.

i really hope this embarrassing loss + everyone burning his fat ass on social media gets to his head enough to change his work ethic. chris arreola managed it.

Ruiz doesn't deserve a third match against Joshua after coming into the rematch like he did. If he had come into the fight in better shape and put up a better fight it would be a different story. Almost every fighter makes excuses after a loss to some extent, but the excuses Ruiz is making make him come off worse than usual. There are more interesting fights for Joshua right now.

 

They should withhold his purse because he stole by not giving the fan's their money's worth, by not training and not fighting.

 

Don't get it twisted, Canelo is out there for that Saudi money.

 

He stole from himself mate , when his millions are spunked away he will still have to look himself in the mirror every morning , he lived every boxing fans dream and his lazy arse ****ed it up .

 

Its very difficult to lose weight when you are that size,running would hurt like hell. Cravings would be insatiable.

It ain't "difficult " to say no to another Pie , as for running ? He didn't need to run , when he hit Josh with that lucky punch he won the lottery ,all he had to do was to get into shape and EARN his money in the rematch , he chose not to and now he's pointing fingers, he could have lost 30lbs walking on a tread mill if he was an honest man but he ain't, he cheated himself . Now he's crying in his beer .

 

The additional 15lb of fat still IMO wasn't even the crux of the issue. Skimping on training has more deleterious effects than just the shape you're in come fight night. What really bit him in the ass was the lack of sparring. He could have been 282 and still made it more competitive if he anticipated Joshua's game plan and prepped strategically for it (and got his cardio up to where it was in the first match, when, remember, he was already quite fat at 267)

You would think he would learn from Buster Douglas or Roberto Duran. I'm sure his trainers and dad drilled it into his head after June but he didn't want to hear that noise. The money he won also could've afforded him a higher quality training camp or strength and conditioning coaches etc. He still has some momentum left so hope he really gets a few good fights next year, because he don't deserve no damn trilogy coming in like that.

 

He though he had AJ's number so didn't really need to worry about anything other than turning up..
