Just heard this, I think the 43 year old Grant got a whopping few days notice :-( Grant has maintained his weight extremely well over the years though, and I imagine he'll be in good shape. Pointless fight regardless, it's an 8 rounder, don't be surprised to see Andy get whacked by a fair share of jabs in his one :-(
Wouldn't be surprised, Ruiz has been hit hard by half of his bum ass opposition in recent years. :tired
Charr >>> Ruiz. You think Charr will ever have anything approaching even a respectable losing effort against a fighter of Vitali's caliber? We're talking about someone who was being outfought by Tor Hammer
Tor Hamer was awhile ago. I saw Andy's last fight against Zumbano Love, he looked pretty good to me. I think he can outwork Grant easily, land a few shots and win by decision or make him quit.
He's going the distance with a fighter all other prospects (And Eric Molina) have already disposed of... and getting hit too much in the process. That's just me anyway, his own promoter has voiced his displeasure with his weight and performances as of late.
He shouldn't even be allowed to fight him at this point unless he proves he can still box against some decent, top 100 journeyman (i.e. Ruiz's last opponent Zumbano)
Good job by Andy's handlers, picking on fighters who peaked over 15 years ago and wasting Andy's prime by leaving him without opponents.
I thought Grant got robbed be Adamek, last that I saw him on tv. Grant didn't look bad, decent activity. 43 years old though, hard to imagine him beating fat sloppy Ruiz Jr right now. I guess I should watch that Charr/Grant matchup if it's available somewhere, i know 2010 is a long time ago.
Like you've ever watched Russell Jr., Mrs. "Everything Beneath Lightweight Is a Waste of Time". :deal
