Ruiz was a bad style matchup for Joshua. The bodybullder likes to stand his ground, and impose his size over his opponents. Didn't work out, because he was slow, and was actually weaker than that little blob. Deontay peppers Andy from the outside and wins on points like the first Stiverne fight.

Only punch for punch. Ruiz has great combinations to get the job done.

Ruiz is a very good fighter, really in hindsight.. I should have paid more attention to his amateur record and the fact he was essentially undefeated (he beat Parker.. and I say this as a Parker fan). I just think AJ did take him way too lightly.. he looked shell shocked. I think in all likelihood, AJ will beat him in the rematch. He has the ability to just box him into making a mistake and then it's lights out.

AJ has always been vulnerable, like Wilder and Fury.. they all can be stopped at any time. Which too me makes the fights that much more exciting. Ortiz SHOULD be too old to pose a credible threat to Wilder, but we saw tonight.. anything can happen.

Dimitrenko is a top 50 ish heavyweight with a glass jaw and Andy Ruiz didn‘t exactly look like a killer against him, that was the point.

He also didn‘t look great against Johnson and Liakhovich, a guy Wilder obliterated in the first round.

Before his fight with Joshua, nobody had Ruiz on the same level as Ortiz and he isn‘t now, he just beat a Joshua who was terrible and probably even underestimated him a bit.

Ruiz is a solid fighter but I don‘t believe he will be the next big thing and he certainly won‘t KO Wilder.

I'm not too certain AJ even has the power to shut Ruiz's lights out. Ruiz has a granite chin, never been dropped before fighting AJ and took AJ's best shots and only got dropped whilst off-balanced, without ever being badly hurt.

AJ did what he was supposed to do. Kept his distance and used the jab, but none of it worked because he was finally fighting a prime skilled contender and not a washed up 39 year old one like a Povetkin.

Ruiz didn't get lucky with a lucky punch. He literally outclassed AJ from start to finish and dropped him multiple times whilst also out-landing him. That, to me doesn't seem like the result would be any different in the rematch. Ruiz would beat AJ against in my opinion, since Joshua's skills are not enough to deter Ruiz.

I agree. But very possible Wilder does the same to Ruiz.

He didn't outclass AJ, he was losing for every moment that AJ was standing off. Each occasion that AJ got caught was when AJ opened up his own offence and he got countered. It's as simple as that. AJ can turn anyones lights out, almost any heavyweight you might care to mention can, it's not a power thing.. it's timing and skill that lets you land that punch. As good as Ruiz's resistance might be.. you can't take too many big shots before the brain gets scrambled.

Fury ain't got no belt and nobody cares about him over here. The biggest fight is Ruiz and Wilder because they knocking people out.

Actually you're wrong, there are some guys you just can't KO. Case in point, MARIUSZ WACH and OLIVER MCCALL!

Ruiz has the ability to take AJ's shots. It's really as simple as that!

And no, AJ standing off doesn't by default mean he was winning. If anything, AJ was giving away the center of the ring (ring generalship) and therefore losing. Ruiz was landing jabs and body shots at will. There's not an awful AJ could have done there to beat Ruiz. We should just accept that Ruiz is simply a superior boxer with better skills and with a sufficiently good chin.
