His feet look slow though. That's a far bigger issue for a pressure fighter than handspeed. I don't think he's got much pop behind that speed, too. He's far too fat and he won't be able to fight more than a few rounds if he doesn't get in shape. He should probably try to lose weight and fight at CW. At that weight he might honestly have promise.

No discipline, no sacrifice, no rewards.

I was watching some old arreola the other night and honestly this dudes combos vs stiffs are no more impressive than arreolas plus arreola hits much harder and has a proven iron chin and as fat as he is he's hercules compared to this guy. arreolas a better version of this guy, this dude might make for some exciting fights around the top 30-50 level though

**** even recent arreola looks better vs far better opposition than this dude.

    not even close man!

    he's at 17 fights....his last 5: 5-6-0, 9-4-3, 8-3-1, 11-2-2, 11-1-1

only recognizable name is his last fight vs Elijah Mccall and only reason it's recognizable is cause it's Oliver Mccalls son.

    at 17 fights Arreolas previous 5 were: 13-15-1, 32-5-0, 21-27-2, 8-1-0, 21-0-1

recognizable names: Sedreck Fields who's a known journeyman who's fought everyone, Curtis Taylor- another journeyman who's fought a ton of known good HW's, Damian Wills- undefeated prospect who's since stuck around and become a journeyman lose to the known guys but beating everyone else.

He said Wilder not Arroela? Confused.

    Also Damian Wills isn't really a journeyman, 30-3 isn't a journeyman record.

Really liking this kid. And being just a kid, 23, he's got plenty of time to straighten his act up in terms of staying in shape.

His weight is coming off, and he should fight comfortably at 245ish. Maybe in the high 230s or low 250s.

He doesnt have to look like an adonis to be a champion.

And I don't see the criticism about his footspeed/work. The kid has great lateral movement and shifts well to counter and avoid hard shots.

At this point, with 17 wins, most of em against no hopers, I'd like to see him step up to some journeymen. See if he can atop a Kendrick Releford or how he takes Byron Polley or Nicolai Firthas shots. Wonder what Owen Becks up to. That would be a decent forward step for Ruiz atm.

Just so long as he takes a few fights vs prospects or journeymen next. :think
