Ruiz is not a bad opponent, especially considering the guys currently available. Thing is though, Fury can outbox him easy if he chooses.
Absolutely... If either Fury turns up in good shape or Ruiz doesn't. It's if Fury isn't in shape and Ruiz is well prepared that it could get interesting, IMHO.
What exactly is the point of this fight? Fury seems content to have someone else eventually beat Usyk so he doesn’t have to fight him. Ruiz is a total disgrace.
Fury is much larger, faster on his feet, and a better boxer than Ruiz. On paper Fury should destroy Ruiz. Ruiz's style is exactly what Fury should be able to play with. However Ruiz is a far better fighter than this, and other online forums, give him credit for. I laugh every time I see some keyboard commando call him short and fat as he's a legit top 10 heavyweight. I believe Ruiz is going to come to this fight in what is his best fighting shape and give it his all. I also believe no one really knows what kind of mental state the lying, ducking, greedy belly is going to come to the fight in, nor what his body is still capable of. Ruiz has more than a puncher's chance, not a lot more, but to count him totally out is doing him a disservice and elevating the greedy belly higher higher than he deserves. The casino near me shows fights with no cover and I'll be putting my lunch money on Andy. Maybe I'll send him $5 bucks directly for the entertainment because I sure as hell ain't buying the ppv and supporting Fury.
I would love to see Ruiz win but I just can't envision any scenario in which he comes out the victor.
For a shorter fighter to beat a taller fighter they need to have a combination of fast feet, great head movement, and one punch knockout power. Ruiz has slow feet, non-existent head movement, and average power. Sounds like a perfect opponent for Fury then.
Usyk v Fury is the obvious fight. I feel like there's only one side dragging it out and that side ain't Usyk. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I find the prospect of Fury v Ruiz slightly more exciting than I found the prospect of Fury v Whyte. And I wasn't excited much about that one. If AJ had went into his rematch with Ruiz with the mentality of making a big statement then that would've added a lot more spice to the division and stopped the stagnation of AJ's career that I feel like I'm witnessing. Usyk is the only HW that has the capability and proactivity to reign atm. Hopefully he gets the chance to be undisputed there.
