Andy Ruiz Jr vs Carl the truth Williams

Why did you ignore every single could thing that Ruiz has done his career and focus on past prime performances? Why did you ignore Williams' crappy chin. I give you a C-.

 

I didn't ignore Williams's chin this is exactly what I said.

"Williams has some weaknesses like his chin is suspect and he's vulnerable to left hooks"

The fights I brought up were Ruiz's best wins were they not ?

And normally the fighters who got Williams out of there were big punchers like Weaver, Tyson, even the fights past his prime like Bruno, Morrison.

I dont think Ruiz is a real big puncher like the fighters above.

 

You brushed over the Joshua win as if it were a fluke.

Ruiz's other best performances were Hanks, Dimitrenko, and Hamer. He didn't go life and death with Arreola; he lost one or two rounds and ended up on a knee from a flash knockdown. He was out of shape for Liakovich, but that's what you focused on. He went tit for tat with a peak Parker, but you ignored that.

Williams got dropped by Tillis and taken out early by an aging Weaver and Tyson. The only contender he beat was a post-Tyson Berbick. His claim to fame is winning some rounds against Holmes in a fencing match.

 

Williams wins a boring jab fest with his massive reach and Andy's T-rex arms.

 

I never suggested the Joshua win was a fluke but I do think Ruiz did get a bit overrated because of that win.

People thought of him as a puncher and thought of him as better than what he actually was.

Ruiz struggled too much against a 40 year old past it Arreola.

Ruiz out of shape vs Liakovich ? When he is not out of shape to be quite frank just look at that man. And again it also shows Ruiz is not really a puncher when he couldn't make an impression on a 38 year old Liakovich who had been stopped in 3 of his last 4 fights.

Close fight vs a young Parker which is solid but I'd say Williams losing a highly controversial decision to Witherspoon is not much different.

Just look at the styles of both fighters.

You have 1 fighter who is short with T-Rex arms and slow feet in Ruiz.

Vs a very tall outboxer in Williams who has a ridiculously long reach.

I think stylistically Williams is a tough opponent for Ruiz.

Could I see Williams getting careless and getting caught ? Absolutely. But again I'd argue Ruiz is not a puncher on the same level as the other fighters I mentioned.

If Williams fights a disciplined fight on the outside using his jab its going to be a tough fight for Ruiz tactically.

You see how Joshua shut out Ruiz by using similar tactics not getting involved on the inside and keeping it at range.

 

Joshua, Austin, Dimitrenko, Johnson, Hanks, etc. were all about the size of Williams or bigger. Joshua was flat out bigger and superior. None of these guys could keep a prime Andy on the end of a jab. He wasn’t like Tua. He’d get to Williams and fold him.

 

Sorry they both fought for the title with one receiving multiple chances.

 

Prime Andy was surprisingly fast on foot and had a beautiful jab to the body, he walks Williams down and gets him with the left hook.

 

Ruiz is a short plodder and isn't a good ring cutter, he would catch Williams and capitalize 3/10 times but Ruiz isn't even a big puncher I'd bet on Williams, that's a bad match up for him.

 

If you need to expand the definition of contender to include people who never even came close to a Ring top ten ranking, it doesn't help your argument in the way that you so dearly want it to.

 

Like he did Joshua the 2nd time right? None of the above boxers had the ability to move like a Williams or even jab like a Williams.

 

Williams had a worse chin than all of them.

 

If Williams can avoid the left hook he might win a decision. But Carl can’t afford to get tagged too much
