Arreola Vs. That FOOTBALL player status at the most... (FAT). He gets served against the Wilders/Joshua's.
It's a shame Ruiz Jr lacks the self discipline to get himself in shape. He'll never reach his full potential unless he gets into the shape. He's more naturally talented than Arreola but unfortunately he's also is far worse shape, even Arreola never stepped in the ring in such poor condition and that saying something. Ruiz Jr will be dangerous early against Parker but he'll fade badly after the 3rd or 4th round as he has done in previous fights. He's only ever had one stoppage after the 4th round and you can see the toll all that extra body weight has on his performance as the fight goes on, in the later rounds his punches lack snap, he drops his hands after throwing and becomes a very stationary target. Parker is going to light him up in the middle to late rounds, if it goes that long that is.
One wildcard here is it looks like Ruiz Jr has shed quite a lot of weight over the last few months and could be carrying MUCH less excess than in the past. Whether that will have only positive effects and if so, how much -will remain to be seen
It can't do him any harm, though he'd have to lose a ton of weight to get down to anything approaching acceptable, probably something like 40-50lbs, he's that obese. If he is in better shape it may mean he'll be dangerous for a few more rounds before fatigue sees him fade but it may also mean he is less durable. We saw that with Arreola, when he was lighter he was easier to hurt and all the weight loss in he world won't change the fact Ruiz Jr is easy to hit.
IDK...I think for his frame, bmi, and water retention, anything lower than 240 would be unhealthy. That said, if he gradually took off 50lbs over 3 fights span, he'd be a solid 225, even if he look a little soft around the middle.
Andy Ruiz isn't very good. The toughest fighter he's faced is Sergei Liakhovich, who was universally considered shot after Jennings and Wilder stopped him. (Wilder left him twitching on the floor.) Then Ruiz signed to fight him, and Liakhovich not only went the distance, Sergei deserved the verdict. After that, Ruiz's team decided shot fighters were too tough and matched him even softer. Because Ruiz is promoted by Bob Arum, Bob got him ranked. When people started dropping ahead of Ruiz in the ratings, Ruiz moved up (even though he'd faced worse opposition than he did before he was rated. Joseph Parker is going to have one of the easier fights of his career (see Joshua-Martin). Ruiz can't hit very hard. He's always in terrible condition. He has short arms. He can't oubox anyone. It's a joke fight. But at least Parker will pummel him and we won't have to bother with Ruiz anymore. Ruiz is bad ... as in not good. Watch Robert Helenius knock out Liakhovich. Watch Jennings knock out Liakhovich. Watch Wilder not only beat him unconscious but make fans wonder aloud if Liakhovich should even be licensed anymore. Then know that Ruiz fought Liakhovich ... and was gifted a bad decision after Liakhovich outboxed him. That really about sums it up.
I think being lower than 240lbs would be healthier for anyone with his frame rather than being clincally obese. He of course should drop the weight gradually, crash dieting would just see him lose a load of muscle as well as fat and that would impair his performance as a boxer. Yes 225lbs would probably be fine for him, he's not hugely muscled but he has some muscle mass under that fat unlike Arreola, so despite him being shorter, he's a small but natural heavyweight.
I'm sure they can use a crane to hoist him into the ring if needs be. I feel sorry for the guys that will have to stretcher him out of the ring after Parker knocks him out, clearly that's going to be a health and safety hazard.
The resulting seismic activity would probably cause untold damage to the local community and god forbid he gets away from the stewards, we'd end up with an Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom type situation. This content is protected
