You shouldn't ignore the science behind obesity despite Ruiz's recent success. He has gained twelve pounds since his last bout. His unique physique has been the exception, but physiology will catch up to him unless he decides to take an intelligent approach to nutrition.

I like Ruiz as a fighter, and I don't want to attack anyone but it's bizarre to me that some people are totally dismissive that there's a champion boxer who is morbidly obese. They called Lennox Lewis FAT when he fought Vitali and Riddick fat when he fought Golota. Ruiz is in disastrous shape by comparison. He makes the Foreman of Foreman/Moorer who was relentlessly mocked look like a prime Arnie. That he's still pulling off a win over someone like Joshua doesn't prove any more about his weight being insignificant than an alcoholic who can still work as a surgeon. I mean it's like great that you didn't cut out the wrong thing, doc, but I still think your drinking should be looked at.

Comparing Ruiz to the top ten, I would say the following:
    1. Wilder is the only guy with comparable handspeed.
    2. Ruiz is the best combination puncher.
    3. Ruiz is the best pressure fighter.
    4. Ruiz has better stamina than all except Wilder and maybe Parker.

...so it’s hard to say he isn’t fit.

The only time I have seen Ruiz Jr in decent shape was after the loss to Parker

He got himself in great shape, lost all the belly fat. But once he started boxing again, he had piled it all back on again

He clearly over eats and doesnt have discipline with his diet. Surprisingly though he still had good enough fitness and stamina at the moment.

Christ, is there some rule that athletes have to look a certain way? In reality ppl come in all sizes. Some ppl are stuck with what they were given. The guy used to be over 300lbs at the beginning of his career. smh

He is doing fine now, given he is 29. His stamina is fine and movement is decent.

However as he gets into his 30s, that additional fat is eventually going to slow him down and affect his stamina. Do you disagree with that?

How does he pass all the prefight medical checks? Being obese for so long he much have high blood pressure, unhealthy blood sugar levels, dangerous cholesterol levels, possible stages of diabetes and risk of stroke at any time.

But I guess the doctors must know what they are doing.
