Ruiz took the podium at a press conference at The Boxing Club East Village in San Diego and said he was not impressed with his potential Ukranian foe’s performance.

“He’s a great fighter and boxer. I didn’t think he looked too good in his first fight [at heavyweight],” said Ruiz. “I didn’t think he carried his power too much for someone who hasn’t fought for so long. I’m not discrediting the guy he beat, of course, but I think he could have done a lot better. I don’t know, that’s just my opinion … After I win Dec. 7, of course we’ll give him an opportunity to take one of my belts.”

The blob knows that puny Usyk is just a pretender. Ruiz will have him for dinner, if he gets into a title shot position. lol

    ,

I see he hasn't earned his title shot then. All just from his cruiserweight achievements. That ain't gonna matter anyway when he's beaten down by these huge behemoths. I see Chazz softened up his face for the next gargantuan sized heavyweight, to have a turn on pounding his cheeks in. He'll turn out like Adamek, but with worse punch resistance after these heavyweights have their fill, mark my words.

I think these are fair comments by Ruiz.

What did people expect him to say?

Top boxers tend to have a lot of self belief and confidence. Without that, they are screwed.

Two examples of that are Golota, a talented guy but a head case who never really believed in himself. And....Joshua...you could see his confidence erode as Ruiz snatched his sole.

Contrast that with Beterbiev, who despite being outboxed and out pointed through at least half of the fight, never lost his inner confidence he would eventually catch his opponent.

I think Ruiz has a point. I think most of the top ten would have had Witherspoon out sooner. Usyk was never going to be a big puncher at HW but his movement and ring IQ will be his USP.

So Usyk v the winner of Joshua/ Ruiz is next. That's ballsy and hats off to him if he does take that next.

If it was me I'd want to test myself against a Whyte or Parker before going in a title fight.

Good example man, Golota would have been an ATG if he sorted his head out, he battered Bowe in both fights

Ruiz has looked lethargic many times against journeyman and washed up fighters. So what's his point?

The opinion on Usyk can be dismissed, this is the interesting aspect:

He's saying he won't put the WBA or IBF belt on the line if Usyk is the WBO mandatory challenger?

Dude went life and death the remaining bits of Liakovich, though I would say Liakovich is way better than Reese Witherspoon.

Yeah I think Ruiz usually fights to the level of his opponent. He just went for it against Joshua who foolishly got sucked into a war. I think he'll lose a competitive but clear decision if AJ decides to box more this time around.

This is going to be a rough fight for AJ. Not sure who I'm picking. AJ clearly has stamina issues, once Ruiz senses him slowing down, he's going to pounce. He has nothing to lose. AJ has everything to lose in this fight, his career is pretty much over with this L.

im a fan of both ruiz and usyk and of AJ as well. If Ruiz is victorious again if he has no plans to unify with wilder or fight pulev then i would love to see him in there with usyk

    but first things first

    AJ rematch ..

Wilder vs Ruiz second ( if ruiz gets past AJ)

    Then usyk (mandatory)

as you can see if Ruiz wins against joshua there is still that possibility he will fight with wilder ( if the fury fight has not been signed yet )

so usyk as much as i am a fan of his and as much as i love his talent he still has to wait possibly

Ruiz would destroy Witherspoon now, he had a crap trainer before.
