God I really hope he's not been drafted in to save the Joshua fight in November. While from a promoters point of view it makes sense to face another undefeated US based heavyweight, to build a fight with Wilder, in reality it's another huge mismatch.

This is the 2nd time Ruiz Jr has pulled out of a fight recently, last time his trainer said his head wasn't in the right place. You have to wonder if he simply hasn't been putting in the work for them to risk putting him in against Fury.

Ruiz has always looked out of shape and overweight You would have thought that any heavyweight with any decent ability and any ounce of ambition would at least train as hard as they can to make sure physically they are in the best condition possible?

Or is Ruiz just one of those big men that no matter how hard they train they just can't lost the fat and gain the appearance of being in good shape with good defined muscle tone?

Ruiz don't want to take any chances until he inflates his record to a point where he gets that big payday loss against someone like Wilder, AJ or Fury. Nothing special about this guy, Hughie would have exposed him with ease.

Man, Ruiz had some hype going a few years ago, but since that time hes had quite a few mediocre performances.
He should be in his prime.

Guys saying he's fighting AJ, don't worry about it. Eddie Hearn has already said that if he stood Joshua next to Ruiz the first pictures would come out and he'd be slated for it.

Yes he got quite a bit of hype early on. People saw the speed and combinations and could see the potential he has, but he's too lazy, never gotten him in anything approaching good shape. Potential is all good but you still have to put the hard work in and he simply hasn't done it, hence some poor performances.
