I kinda like Ruiz but wtf is he chiming in here for. He quit before he even got in the ring with Joshua the second time. Stuffing your fat face with ridiculous amounts of ham so you are in no way prepared for a heavyweight title fight that you should have won is much worse than getting stopped by a power puncher from a body shot. Keep you mouth shut Ruiz...both to avoid looking stupid and so no more ham goes in.
Ruiz Jr quit on his family which is a far worse sin. Ruiz Jr quit on his goals, aspirations and discipline after getting money which is a far worse sin. That liver shot on skinny Garcia wiped him out. The fight was done regardless if Garcia could have fought on. You don't make it to mid fight with tank with it slipping away and make a miraculous comeback unless you're made of something special like Tyson Fury. Quitting is a mortal sin but it hurts the boxer more than anyone else. It's really not to be judged upon by fans. Couldn't care less about him giving up at that moment. The fight was done. Imagine the same scenario with Usyk in the final fight of his career against Fury. would he give up? no...but he'd know by getting up his shield awaits and there would be zero embarrassment in it. He'd be a hero and hopefully the ref or corner would give him a soft landing.
Exactly! Not too mention showing up at badly overweight for his first title defense against Joshua was absolutely disgraceful. He shouldn't call anyone out after that performance.
a) The man traded the highest honor a man of his profession can hope for—the heavyweight championship of the world—for parties, food, and whores. He didn't have to win the rematch, but lack of realization what glory he could bring to his nation, family, and the name he was given by simply putting a valiant effort—well it says something about the man. b) The last time Andy felt what a body shot feels like was when he still saw his feet twenty years ago.
Garcia was KO''d, plain and simple. He was hit with a liver shot that put him down, and he wasn't able to beat the ten count.
I like the big fat Mexican, but he is wrong about the quittage. And you're partly right about the focus. If you'd said "2 rounds" you would have been spot on. Garcia won the first five minutes. And looked promising. And then…. BOOM !!! After the KD , he became gun-shy and he lost the will to fight. From there on, it as just a matter of HOW he was going to lose.
Some truth to what Andy says. If Ryan didn't pop back up at the count of ten and appear to be just fine then I would disagree with Andy. I've never seen a boxer ko'd by a body shot pop up and look unfazed. Compare that to Linares vs Loma, for example.
