There were rumours 4 weeks prior to the fight that Ruiz Jr was going to pull out. He went ahead with the fight in the end, but in horrendous shape which meant he was unable to be competitive in there.

Andy Ruiz Sr has highlighted that due to the amount of Ruiz Jr gained in partying and eating, that he had advised his son to pull out. As he didnt have enough time to shift the weight and train properely for the fight.

So the rumours 4 weeks prior to the match were related to this and perhaps Ruiz Jr was considering pulling out?

He has no one to blame but himself in the end. He turned up for the biggest fight of his career in the worst shape of his career, and was a disgrace to himself and HW boxing. This was all his own doing.

On the reala though the short turn around in the first fight was probably the best thing that could have happened to Ruiz.

Money and fame can go to people’s heads. Ruiz is hardly the first case.

I gotta be honest, I lost a good amount of respect I had for Ruiz here. What kind of partying was he doing that involved him gaining so much weight? Was this guy just stuffing his face with birthday cakes every day? Was he drinking? What does he mean by partying? I know he was doing a lot of TV appearances and what not, but that's not partying. And every time he seemed like he was staying in shape. Like if he just gained a couple of pounds or something but it still was within reason, it would be one thing. But for him to just like not even try to get in shape, I don't get that. He said he was "training himself" for the rematch, not listening to his family, trainers etc?

This is embarrassing for Ruiz, even moreso just like how he's talking about it all, like he just made all the wrong decisions. It's sad to hear honestly. This hurt his rep and marketability.

Same thing that happens when people with sub 80 IQs win $20 million in the lottery. They all cry and whine after all the money is gone and have all kinds of excuses.

Carrying an extra 14lbs when you’re already 268lbs is not that much difference. It’s a 5% weight gain. All just excuses from Ruiz jr because he wants that 3rd payday.

I don’t see any version of Ruiz jr getting close to the AJ that beat him on Saturday.

He should have been in the shape which brought him to the dance, the first time. He should have maybe like I said before, enlisted a trainer like Buddy McGirt, he would not let him rest, and would have him in decent shape. He would have had to skip the Snicker's and Taco's, also the Cerveza. Lots of roadwork, sparring, and watching films of possible strategy changes from his opponent. He did not care, he just became another Ingemar Johannson.

Andy Ruiz should have done what most boxers do to buy time, fake an injury and delay the fight.

He honestly could have done that since he held the titles and was in the drivers seat.

    It's a massive difference.

Look at the fight - Ruiz had cement for feet.

Yep. forced him to go straight into camp immediately after a fight.. Andy has always had this problem which only intensified when he became wealthy and a champion..

    He is a proper simpleton

I can imagine him at the parties eating tons and then someone keeps reminding him about the rematch and he is like “ ill be fine man life is good, this food is such a blessing”
