How do you know Jersey Joe Walcott wouldn’t Knock Dominic Breazeale out in one round? What makes somebody like Breazeale (who has twice fought for a world title) a better fighter than Johnny Schkor?
I understand but they don’t have to be “bangers” to be a good puncher or make my point. The point being if the normal good to great fighter faced opponents with a 40 pct KO record Marcianos was about 45 pct(don’t have the numbers in front of me but all in boxing by the numbers). Not a crazy number just letting you know he didn’t face all cup cakes. I think had he fought a Liston just once this convo wouldn’t be difficult. I don’t think Ruiz hits as hard as Walcott (at least to early to tell for me). Sure he can hit well but I don’t put Ruiz in the Tyson Foreman Wilder Marciano category as of yet of big punchers
Schkor was a journeyman and his record proves it 31-19-2. He lost to all the better men he fought. Walker Burman Sheppard Peaks Bivins Reynolds Muscato Baksi Oh and he beat Mauriello because Tami sustained a bad cut that required 20 stitches. Breazeale has nothing to do with this discussion.
So bottom line you can't name any more big punchers Marciano faced? I didnt expect you to because there aren't any!
...you either refuse to under stand what I’m saying or you don’t care and are going off on a tangent lol. I AGREE with you he didn’t face many big hitters. BUT ON AVERAGE his opponents were better hitters then normal. DOESNT mean they were big hitters JUSG better then average.
Your statement should be taken with a grain of salt considering that you’ve spent much of your adult life obsessing over a certain Eastern European former champion with one of the best physiques ever in boxing.
Many being two.Care to name some of these better than average hitters he faced?Forty nine fights ,give us 5.
Listen if you don’t like the averages argue your point elsewhere lol. The numbers are what they are. You’re arguing a losing point. It’s like you’re trying to argue a baseball players batting average. His numbers are what they are despite you’re insistence otherwise. The average fighter doesn’t face monster punchers all the time. It is what it is. If you can get the average KO percentage of the top 100 fighters, opponents and you would see Marciano ranks above average on opponent KO percentage like I said reference boxing by the numbers it’s all there Walcott x 2 Archie Louis Layne Schkor Reynolds Wilson Quinn Charles Etc were all decent punchers anything over 40 is better then average
No anything over 50% is better than average. Do yourself a favour take a look at the victims, these guys made their percentages on. Reynolds 49kos 16 had losing records 3 more were debutees.Kos over names none. Wilson51 kos 21 losing records 2 more debutees. Quinn14 kos 7 losing records 3 debutees. Schkor 22kos 4losingrecords 4 debutees . They were fighting dross. The average fighter doesn't face monster punchers all the time, quite true. Marciano never faced one! He faced two good who both floored him. One was 39/40 the other was 38.
You are not taking account of the fact that these named made their percentages knocking over simply dire opposition or don't you think that should be factored in?
