I think you might be exaggerating.

Nobody can criticize Marciano's willingness to face deserving challengers.it was not his fault most of them were past prime. His manager did a good job of negociating around certain fighters, but that's what managers are for.

Marciano for the most part was fighting old guys in his later years .He was always in great shape 'but should we be surprised he outlasted the likes of Louis 37,Walcott 38, Moore 38/40

I'd have to say this is a valid point.

I'd expect Wilder to put in a coma anyone who was knocked down and buzzed by a 40 years old light heavyweight,
What would happen if AJ hit Marciano with the left hook he dropped Ruiz with?

I want to know why, with more money on the line than ever, the greatest promoters and trainers in the world aren't pursuing tiny, slow, truncated heavyweights with horrible balance. Why is everyone they are after 6-5, fast and athletic?

Are these folks not as smart as the better angels on this board?

With all due respect, Haye cleaned out “what was available” at cruiserweight which is roughly the same as what Marciano did. Haye did beat a super heavy tittle holder and went 12 with an ATG super heavy though.

I think AJ was rushed. The Ruiz fight proved it.

should we be surprised Rocky outlasted the likes of Louis 37,Walcott 38, Moore 38/40? Yes.

Those guys all had comparable wins and considerable experience on Rocky when he fought them and were still churning out good results over leading fighters. Louis was on a hot streak and had a win over the current champion. Walcott was the current champion and Moore was beating all the top heavyweights and would be good for years to come.

Haye beat the best at cruiserweight, albeit economically.

At heavyweight, he didn't fight anybody with a pulse, unless they held a title.

No wins at cruiserweight emphatically do not correspond to wins at heavyweight in Marciano's era.

In Marciano's era, if you weighed more than 175lbs, you had to go against everybody above that weight!

What’s so good about super heavyweight on its own though? You are using “super heavyweight” itself as an important factor yet in the short history of modern super heavyweight sized champions we have seen all of the best ones knocked spark out in horrible upsets or embarrassingly humbled. Wlad, Lewis, AJ. Who else is there?

Wilder is a tall heavyweight. That only leaves Tyson Fury. And he might have his hands full with Jess Willard and Primo Carnera, two guys not given a chance any great modern cruiserweight.

That’s an interesting way to close out your post. The only two guys who Marciano fought who might have a problem getting to 200 and then putting the weight back on by fight night were a shot, overweight Louis and some guy named Bill Wilson.
