Ruiz would have beat everybody Toney fought, Toney would have struggled with a few of Ruiz`s opponents, the win over AJ is better than any win Toney had at heavyweight.
If Toney shows up at his best, he'd be 160lbs, but if he shows up in the shape he was for Jirov or Holyfield, Toney wins handily. If he shows up in the shape he was for Rahman or Peter, we'd have a closer fight.
Toney at heavyweight was at his best against punchers. He was great at counter punching powerful yet slow heavyweights. I would not put Ruiz in that category. An in shape top of his game Ruiz has very fast hands which could be a problem for the heavyweight version of Toney who was in his mid to late 30's. I think it's a very intriguing fight that I would probably favor Ruiz but it would not surprise to see Toney take him to school.
Yes, I should have clarified that I meant the best heavyweight Toney. James was brilliant against Holyfield, yet I tend to favor Ruiz here. His speed, bulk, and chin might’ve earned him a close decision.
The Toney that lost to Sam Peter in the rematch would still beat the Ruiz that beat Joshua. It's a bad matchup stylistically for Fat Andy. Toney is too good on the counter against someone that can't move
Toney at his best, But at the buffet table even a legendary eater such as James Toney would be in trouble vs Ruiz
The bigger belly beats the smaller belly. Saying that though, I don't know what creature came in worse shape. Ruiz vs Joshua 2 or Toney vs Brown! Yikes what a debacle!
