I'm gonna be one of the odd men out and go with John Ruiz.

    1. John Ruiz was great at landing the 1-2 from the outside then ending all action
    2. Andy Ruiz's game is to come in and get close then flurry with combos n speed, I've never seen anyone successful with that against John
    3. I've never seen anyone really outmuscle John Ruiz in a clench to be able to get away and get shots off.
    4. I've never seen John Ruiz dominated (sans Tua and that was only 20 seconds) and Roy and Toney.
    5. I've seen Andy fight up and down to opponent.
    6. I've watched John Ruiz completely befuddle guys that were much faster (Kirk Johnson), guys that were much stronger (Rahman) guys etc

John Ruiz quite simply was a handful to everyone.

This is what I think too.
Andy has fast hands, but he doesn't really use them to box well. He uses a guard and waits for the opponent. I think he waits right into a Ruiz jab and clinch all night long.

John isn't clinching Andy. The blob would chump him up, into small Weetabix styled pieces.

He "triumphed" by breaking the RULES against excessive holding. And, in several fights by blatantly overacting to draw bogus low blow calls to get crucial point deductions (Thunder, Holyfield II) or a bogus DQ (Johnson). His entire career against world class opposition is utterly fraudlent. Without Don King, he's a regional beltholder, at best.

Ruiz is the poster boy for boxing corruption in the 90s and early 2000s. In a fair fight against any decent contender - and Andy Ruiz is that - he gets destroyed just like he did against David Tua.

I would be backing John Ruiz in this one. He would foul and hold his way to a controversial decision win.

I dont think Andy Ruiz would be clever enough or streetwise enough to win a decision over John Ruiz

I voted John Ruiz. Andy is just too fat to win at top level at this point.

I don't care what the polls say, unless Jay nady was the ref, John would bully and hold so much on the inside that it would render fatso ineffective. Ruiz was a great Roman Greco wrestler pretty well conditioned to "survive" guys like max kellerman said. On the other hand, can Andy possibly take a backward steps i.e. his footwork? Would he be able to create distance to get his shots off or would he fall into that silent agreement teddy atlas' ****?

ugh! the thought of watching another John Ruiz fight is nauseating, having to watch him fight a 280 pound blimp puts me on suicide watch at the asylum.
