Nice match up. I'm a bit of a fan of Andy Ruiz, I thought he beat Parker! Ortiz has the pedigree but does he have the stamina? because Andy Ruiz won't stop putting pressure on for 12 rounds. You'd have to favour Ortiz but I wouldn't be surprised if Andy pulled it off. Just hope Andy hasn't piled all the weight back on
Ortiz isn't Parker it would be a very different fight. Coming forward against Parker works because Parker doesn't counter punch enough and goes fully defensive when faced with aggression. Ortiz is a good counter puncher he'd use Ruiz's aggression against him with counters something Parker doesn't do. It's one thing to force back an opponent that is happy to go on the back foot and not counter, very different when faced with an opponent that will stand his ground and counter back. So just coming forward won't really pressure Ortiz at all as that what Ortiz wants from his opponent and Ruiz isn't going to out work Ortiz, his work rate is worse than Ortiz's. Unless Ruiz has a granite chin I suspect he'll get taken apart and I don't even rate Ortiz that highly, it's just Ruiz's performance against Parker is overrated, he isn't as good as that fight suggests.
Ortiz would most definitely win. I know Parker fans do not want to hear it, but Ruiz is big time overrated, and Parker by his performance against Ruiz is not going any further than a belt holder.
This. Ruiz has handspeed and a chin, which allowed him to do okay against Parker, but Parker doesn't have Ortiz's reach or skill. Ortiz is also very accurate, which is rare in today's heavyweight division.
Seems to have gained recognition rather late in his career. Not good. Makes it easier for younger fighters to wait until he's over the hill unless he gets a mandatory. Even then the opponent might just relinquish the belt and fight someone else.
