The most obvious choice is Ruiz because Ortiz is way past his best. But then again style wise I think this favours Ortiz. Ortiz is a counter puncher and likes it when opponents come to him as we saw in his best performance against Jennings. You go right at Ortiz it's a question of KOing him before he KO's you which obviously is a very dangerous game to play. Ruiz looked vulnerable vs Arreola too. If it was the Ruiz who took Joshua's bombs then maybe he has a chance but this slimmed down version may not be durable enough to go right at Ortiz and walk through his punches. I think Ortiz has to be totally shot to lose, if he has anything left I favour him to KO Ruiz.
Ruiz would win easily. Much, much faster hands and Ortiz defence is non existent and and Ruiz is the tougher of the two.
As Lennox Lewis said, Andy Ruiz Jr hits like a mule. If Ortiz was knocked down by Martin, Ruiz sends him to Mars. Ruiz has a very strong chin, he survived AJ's strongest hits. He will take Ortiz's best shots like nothing. All odds are in Ruiz's favor, he is younger, stronger, more durable, hits harder. Andy Ruiz Jr knocks Luis Ortiz out in a brutal fashion.
If we go by both of their last fights, Ortiz would stop fat Andy. Andy was getting caught too damn clean and getting hurt by someone that he shouldn't have been hurt by. Very odd too because Andy has previously been durable if nothing else.
Ruiz stops him later rds. His boxing skills and handspeed win the fight. Ortiz gasses and gets caught.
Ortiz is done. Only his power is left. Leg is gone, chin rattled by jabs, and speed no where near what it was. Guy is 42. Crazzy age to still be fighting. Fighters with greater skills and better natural ability couldn’t go past 40 so I highly doubt a guy of Ortiz caliber doing it. Ortiz has a punchers chance and that is it. Ruiz should win wide decision or stoppage.
Ruiz's unimpressive last outing gives Ortiz hope. Ruiz's conditioning can't be relied upon either and he's carrying as much rust as excess timber. I might even make Ortiz favourite.
Cops a bit of flack Ruiz but he has TKOd and gone the distance with Joshua and Joshua is the Number 3 in the division You would think with the age of Ortiz it would be easy work but it's an average division and anything could happen.!!
I agree with your style wise opinion , unlike Martin who was moving Ruiz will be there in range for Ortiz to hit. Of course Ortiz could lose at his age but it's certainly not a given he would. Might bet on Ortiz if the odds are good and his weight is under control
Ortiz did better against an arguably stronger opponent though. Ruiz seems to fight down to his opponents level, I think he takes a decision over Ortiz who's legs and chin appear shot. I think this might actually be a fun fight, much better Hrgovic who stops Ortiz early imo.
