Should have been a UD for Lee. The corner just had to give Gibbs 3 more seconds until the bell. :-(. Lee won either way though, no doubt about that. Just makes his record look better with the stoppage.
Would have thought his toughest opponent was the one who beat him :think Good fight though. I like Lee, in a couple years he should be in the mix.
and to think, you're the one who raves about styles make fights ... im disappointed. fantastic performance from andy lee.
How did he do? Was he dominating? Did he look like his confidence was restored for the fight after Vera? Was he troubled at all?
confident composed and some down right brilliant technical outside boxing,he was getting caught a few times late on but responded to a bruising headbutt by kd'ing gibbs and his corner to throwing in the towel.
Sweet. So would you say he still needs some working defensively before he's ready to step up another level?
Defence was decent but certainly needs improving a bit. Was getting caught with a few right hands but nothing more.
as someone said in another thread,he needs more body and head movement,he keeps a really good high left but there are definatly improvements that can be worked on,but he did look very very slick tonight.
Good to here. I think he's in with a very good chance of winning a belt eventually, whether at 160 or 168. I feel slightly sorry for him that Manny hyped him up so much, he was being built up so much that when he was eventually knocked down, it would be a big fall. Sounds like he's rebuilding very well though.
160 would be his best shot at a belt, as there are some weak titlists there. Even then, if you can't get Gibbs out of there quickly and with ease, it's not impressing me. At 168 the class of fighter is just too good for someone like Lee.
