Postol is a promising fighter but his biggest win to date is Selcuk Aydin who's decent but not one of the best. It'd be far fetched to suggest Postol would destroy Garcia. I've watched the Aydin fight and he(Postol) wobbled quite a few times whenever he got caught - which makes you think that his chin can hardly withstand a solid hook from Garcia.
I'd call it a low risk/low reward. Postol is not a KO artist and we know how judges treat Garcia on the cards.
I consider it high risk since I think Postol's jab and length can pose problems for Danny. Medium reward since Postol is a mandatory challenger.
To be fair to Postol, Robert Guerrero said that Aydin is the hardest puncher he's fought, including Keith ''One Time'' Thurman.
Very high risk, I'd say not even medium reward. All it does for him is satisfy his mandatory requirement. I think he would be just as happy to cut and run than be made to look horrible yet again by a skilled outside boxer.
I actually think Garcia has a chance to knock Postol out. Postol was wobbled by a Aydin left hook in the first round. Postol adjusted and started blocking the left hook, but that doesn't mean he isn't vulnerable to it. Garcia can catch him between the combinations. It's a tough fight for ether guy no doubt. Garcia would have trouble with Postol's height and jab. Postol would have trouble with Garcia's left hook counters. Postol could win a decision, but Garcia has a puncher's chance and more importantly...a judges chance.
:deal when he was wobbled, all the hype of Postol flew out the window for me, I thought he was going to get kod. He is a bit like Chris Algerie the way he boxes
I'd somehow think of him like Lepikhin of the LHW. Undefeated for a few years, tall, jabber, hyped, then gets completely destroyed by the first A grade fighter he encounters.
Yes you're right, Lepikhin and Postol are more similar than Postol and Algerie.. Algerie has an athletic aspect to him that Postol and Lepikhin do not.
