No its not and it is legal in more stated than it is illegal. Plus you have to take a drug test to make sure you are not using it on fight night. You are not allowed to numb the entire hand either. Just the injured part.

Alex Ariza, the man who oversees S & C for Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan, and Victor Conte, who advises Nonito Donaire and Andre Berto on proper training methods and supplement intake, got at each other pretty good a couple days ago. I wrote a lengthy look at Conte's status as a hot S & C guy in boxing for ESPN.com. Check that out here http://es.pn/n237WY.

I was interested in Conte's interest in Ariza, as I'd noticed that the ex BALCO badboy tweaked Ariza regularly on Twitter. He insinuated that maybe Ariza took shortcuts to help prep his fighters. Conte, who said he thinks illegal PED use in boxing is "rampant," said he is indeed skeptical of Ariza, because of Pacquiao's late-age performance spike and ability to jump weight classes. "It doesn't mean it can't be done," Conte told me. "I expect Nonito to move up in class. It can be done." But...

Conte said that many boxers are blood doping, essentially getting blood extracted, having their red blood cells concentrated, and then getting the red blood cell re-infused into their body. Red blood cells carry oxygen from the lungs to the muscles, so having more of them will increase aerobic capacity and endurance. "Basically, the guys that are out there throwing punches for 12 rounds non-stop, I'm suspicious," Conte told me.

Conte said he's been told by sparring partners of big name fighters that EPO, a hormone which spurs red blood cell production, is a favorite of fighters. "I'm not going to talk names," he said.

Conte cast a doubting eye on any boxer who protests that the testing protocol they agree to is what the athletic commissions call for. "That position is suspect," he said. "I'm trying to say, around the camps, there are a lot of dead bodies. As soon as accusations start, the defamation suits start to fly. It costs money, and they're trying to muzzle people."

See, the problem is that Pac really isn't jumping up in weight to begin with. Pac's walking weight when he was fighting at featherweight was 150-155 ( when not fighting ). Pac weighed in at 128 against Marquez the second time they fought and Pac rehydrated all the way to 147-149 which, coincidentally, is Pac's current fighting weight.

All Pac is doing is fighting at a weight class without draining himself to be effective. Conte is trying to confuse the ones who doesn't know how to use their common sense and by doing so, Conte becomes this type of guy who portrays himself as somebody who knows everything specially if the other guy is cheating or not.

I wouldn't take Conte's advice seriously. The guy is out there to sell his products, nothing more.

At least he didnt load his gloves like Barrera. Pac and Morales are the only clean fighters left in boxing.:-( I really hope Coach Freddy ask for OSDT only for Marquez. I dont trust Nacho with his blue leather gator boots, hoes and 65 Mustang.

No he didn't he rehydrated to 144, and his current fighting weight is 150. EPO doesn't make you gain weight anyway

They're punching eachother in the head :patsch
Plus do you realize what affect this would have on highschool athletes. If all the pros were allowed and encouraged to take steroids, then highschool and even middleschool athletes could start abusing them also.
When I have kids, I'm going to hope that he wants to get into boxing, but I'd be damned if he ever takes any type of drug that'd hurt him

I hope Roach petitions the NSAC as well.......
I'd love to see him explain why Marquez alone should get tested and not Manny.
......and then I'd like to see if the NSAC has the audacity to carry it through and only have Marquez take a PED test.:deal

This situation right here is ideal for the NSAC to step in and say, "you know what, we're going to randomly test you from here ti'll after the fight" and for both fighters.
......but I doubt the commision has the integrity to carry out something of the sort.:-(

In any regard, Roach would look like a complete idiot petitioning for Marquez to have to submit to additional tests when he's fought tooth and nail for Pacquiao not to submit to them.
Hey, as coach Roach has often said, "Manny has passed every commision test he's ever took."
.....guess what Freddie, so has Marquez......and if Marquez passes the typical post fight urinalysis after the fight, I guess that means he's spot clean.:yep

    Devildoc does'nt bother to read.
Conte insinuated he was suspicious of Ariza, Pacquiao and there methods.
Skeptical of a fighter that late in his career at much higher weight classes has the stamina to throw punches non-stop.
Conte called it blood doping, which does'nt involve bulking your muscles up. Conte believes blood doping is rampant in boxing.
