IMO one of the best journeyman ever and he had also one of the best chins ever, he was never KO´ed, only stopped on cuts twice (if I remember right) in about 250 fights, and he fought fighters like Napoles, Duran, Hernandez, Arcari, Laguna, Perkins, etc., what are your thaughts about him?
When I first saw Garcia sparring in the '50s at the Fifth St. Gym in Miami, L, thought he was the second-coming of a mini-Gavilan -- standing unruffled in the pocket, never expending undue energy, throwing fast, accurate, tight combos 'n the Keed's bolo. He looked a sure-fire star...Funny how things worked out.
Wonderful chapter on him in the book below. Highly recommended! http://www.allbookstores.com/Boxing-This-Enrique-Encinosa-Hank/9780882801063
He was stopped three times, twice on cuts. The first stoppage is listed as a straight up KO, against Alfredo Urbina. Can anyone shine some light on that one? Was he sparked out or actually out on his feet?
