Angelo Dundee 1983 - Rocky Marciano vs Gerrie Coetzee.

I remember at the time I thought Coetzee was on an upward trajectory after his KO of Dokes, the talk of a fight with Holmes was everywhere but Holmes wouldn't take the fight due to the politics of South Africa at the time if I recall, all though there was talk of Holmes ducking him as is the usual noise in boxing circles. Personally Larry shouldn't have had much trouble with Gerrie,,,
Geez! it's been 45 years? Occasionally I forget how long ago some fights I saw are . We're getting along done the road eh? Take care,,,

 

Well, Gerrie did beat Knoetze, who was a bigger, stronger, more athletic version of Marciano.

 

Marciano vs Coetzee would be a battle grit and wills . Lots of big shots exchanged. I can see how Dundee thought it would be a tough fight.
