    @swagdelfadeel Bathe in the glory!

    Angelo Dundee

Another cutey, he has a more awkward style and may have given Marciano more problems than you'd think. I've worked with him and he's underrated. He's not that easy to hit and he boxes pretty good and hits pretty good.

Snipes has given a lot of people trouble and he might yet be a factor in the heavyweight title picture. I don't think he has enough power to have beaten Marciano, and Rocky would have moved underneath his punches and given him a pretty bad beating to the body; but Snipes is the kind of kid who poses more problems for his opponents than the experts expect.

Snipes was a lousy fighter by world-class standards. People have been duped by over-rating Holmes.

I agree with you. Got a robbery against Coetzee and went on to do nothing more than drop an off balance Holmes, beat an early Berbick, and just about lose to everybody else who was world class. What were his best wins other than Trevor? Floyd Cummings? Johnny Du Plooy?

Snipes was very unlucky not to get the nod over Witherspoon that's a standout performance considering what Witherspoon did in his next fight vs Holmes.

You reckon it was a robbery? Maybe I should go rewatch it.

I've only seen it once I didn't actually score it but my impression was that Snipes was unlucky not to get the nod.

Would I say it was a robbery ? No. But definitely controversial and I think Snipes probably has a better argument to winning it than Witherspoon.

Snipes was a talented, well-schooled, fighter who was unlucky in the scoring against Witherspoon and Berbick, beat Coetzee, Muhammad and Jumbo Cummings, and came within a hair's breadth of beating Holmes. He was a definite quantity in the division.

The only real fighter who beat Snipes convincingly without hassle was a prime Greg Page who was in red hot form at that time.

Other than the Page fight pretty much every other fight Snipes lost barring the Holmes fight was a close decison loss. Snipes had very good legs/movement good stamina with an awkward herky jerky style and a good chin not an easy guy to contend with.

    Snipes actually beat Berbick.

His win over Coetzee won highway robbery of the year. It was atrocious.

I'd agree he was a good heavyweight tho. Could have been better schooled but his awkwardness was an asset at times too.

Bang on. Snipes didn't "turn up" in a couple of fights as well, the disease was rife among 80's heavyweights not named Holmes.

I watched Snipes fight Biggs awhile ago at this point Snipes was a bit past his prime and Biggs was on the up and up as the rising young contender.

Biggs won the decision but boy did Snipes push him all the way in a very close fight. I don't think many Heavyweights would have an easy time with a in form Snipes. Hes awkward game as hell and his legs/movement is actually really underrated.

It actually says alot about Greg Page that he beat him as handily as he did because no one else did in the 80s including Holmes who was almost knocked out.

Absolutely mate. Snipes was a fixture between around #6 and #10 and was well worthy of it. Page was in excellent form that night tho he tired just a touch late. He did a great job defensively when Snipes started really loading up on right hands later in the fight, looking to turn it with one massive swipe.
