Anyone read the article on Angelo Dundee in the Sunday Times ? Hugh Mcilvanney must be the last of the great boxing writers in this country. Years ago every newspaper had a boxing correspondent, even the red top[s. I can remember a great full page article on Emile Griffith in The Sunday Mirror in 1976 regarding his up-coming bout with Loucif Hamani the french prospect. The writer,Frank MGhee had been a great fan of Griffith througout his career and whilst praising him for his previous achievments,he questioned why he carried on as a test for the up and coming prospects.Emile answered that boxing was his job and what else could he do.It was a great and moving article and if a similar article was printed today i doubt if it would have anywhere the same resonance. In fact no-one would give a ****.
This Q & A session with Angelo Dundee is from 2005, but well worth the time it takes to read >>> http://www.boxinginsider.com/column...insider-com-interviews-with-scoop-malinowski/
