 :patsch Vwoosh! Yeah, don't do that.

What that means is you are completely ignoring the fact that PEDs would not endow a slow footed basic fighter to even corner a skilled guy like Lara, see Mayweather versus Baldomir, Hatton, Ortiz, Guerrero. Nor would PEDs make Angulo ONLY use power in close, ONLY to the LIVER, and never to the head until Lara squirted out. It is like you are glossing over all of the tactical changes just to shout "PEDs did it!" Your screen name damn sure doesn't make you look objective.

I never said that crap. Conte also works with Judah. Nobody gives a crap. I doubt a fighter when he refuses to test. Period. My point is Angulo was so garbage and Lara so good, that following him in a straight line wouldn't have changed crap PEDs or not. Tactics changed this fight.

    Ok, I'll keep it rolling.
Angulo sucks from a technical point of view but is a monster from a physical point of view. Saturday night he sacrificed his face in order to implement his tactic. If what Virgil says was , forget about Lara straight left just get inside and bang his body, wow! It sounds wrong from every angle I look at it. He could've ruined his career. The trainer who doesn't teach defense ,is not a good trainer in my eyes. That's why I believe Conte came along to provide that extra who allow some athletes to succeed .

You can't catch a Master Boxer following him in straight lines, PEDs or not. Without technical guidance he wouldn't have even caught Lara let alone knocked him down. Angulo was full on going damned near backwards to slice the ring in half when Lara escaped.

Sacrificed? No amount of coaching can save you from a faster smarter fighter. Lara has a beautiful 1-2. This is the exact reason I think Lara will smash Alvarez. Trout landed the 1 all day. Lara will finish the sequence.

Oh it's astonishing that Virgil Hunter didn't transform Angulo into a Whitaker-like slickster in 5 months.

Virgil: "Alfredo, forget that Mexican pressure-fighting stuff. I want you to fight more like Sweet-Pea. Show up to the gym bright and early tomorrow morning, and we'll get started with head-movement exercises. In the afternoon we'll set to work on your movement, you're gonna be a cat-quick slickster when we're done with you."

I won't go to the roids but a well prepared 175 huge puncher inside an small ring against a MW can look almost invincible if he has the chin to take some punishment, Lara didn't have the space to move freely, he was there to lose not to win just ask GBP/WBC...

Its a crying shame that a fighter with the potiental of Angulo doesn't have proper head movement !

People seem to think boxers can be changed by trainers. They can't (unless they've been together since childhood). It's like teaching an old dog new tricks. Guys like Steward didn't change his fighters, he taught them how use the skills and physical traits they already had. He refined them, not changed them.

Angulo and Khan are offensive fighters. Virgil will never be successful with them until he understands what he has to work with.

What makes you say that? This doesn't really make sense though...

I was there and go to that venue regularly. Selling a Mexican fighter or fight card is NOT a problem. If they just wanted to put on an event and have Angulo come out on top, why Olympic level Lara?

Anybody who knows Boxing and saw him versus Martirosyan favored Lara's style over Angulo's in damned near any sized ring. On so many levels, I hope GBP knows Boxing. Hard to believe they went into this blind.

I just refuse to believe that GBP thought he was a "can". :think:bart

 Exactly what did YOU think Virgil did wrong?

All Hunter did was improve footwork and help him pick better opportunities.

Considering the opponent, Angulo did better than anyone expected.

That sums it up right there, never would i have thought the caveman fighting style of Angulo would of caught the skilled Lara. Angulo was moving in slow motion.

I don't know what is wrong with modern Boxing fans. Good footwork does NOT equal FAST footwork. Everybody isn't Ali!

Boxing is about taking a REGULAR man and making him an effective fighter against a RANGE of opponents using a fundamental set of principals. If you are a slow guy fighting a faster guy there are principles you can use to make your slower footwork actually BETTER footwork than the fast guy.

Angulo did all any coach could ask for in the footwork department. He didn't follow his man, used pursuit angles, and muscled him into position for his left to the liver which forced Lara to retreat by straightening up quickly and leaning out. Most important he forced Lara to burn precious energy slowing him down and allowing his slow punches to connect. Beautiful.

    These guys DKSAB. :bart
