If you were out because of an ankle injury, how much time did it take you to get back to training? I've been out for 4 weeks now, god knows how much more time? I am suffering from stretched ligaments. Any advice is welcome as well to avoid this in the future.
hey Juxin, thanks for the reply, the doctor thinks it may take another month before I can get back to full training but i just wanted to see what people's experiences here are.
do very very .light training, something which does not invlovle footwork as much. Try some heavybag but dont move much, shadow boxing but without footwork.. etc. etc.
I did serious damage to my ankle while training for my black belt test. The test was scheduled for 2 weeks after the injury so I taped it and trained injured. I got it done, and I'm glad I did that, but don't rush things unless absolutely necessary. The long term damage is rarely worth it when a little rest would solve the problem.
You need to go to a proper sports physio. Doctors are sh*t when it comes to sports injuries and default to "rest it". A physio will give you strengthening exercises for it (1) to get over it faster and (2) to help limit the risk of it happening again. They can also recommend exercises to do that won't hurt it, but help you stay fit. Just resting with no rehab work can actually make it very prone to repeat injury.
Thanks for the replies. I have been doing some physio everyday and soaking it in hot water with salt all of which is helping, can snail walk now without any support (crutches).
