Mathis is asked whether she thinks female boxing should stick with 2 minute rounds or move to 3 minutes like male boxing. Mathis doesn't care, says it doesn't matter either way. Holm defends the 2 minute format, saying it's more exciting.
A reporter asks if Holm feels that 3 minute rounds would have disadvantaged her because it would have made her get tired faster with her running and pot shotting "hit and don't get hit" style. Holm is fuming while listening to the question. She doesn't even dignify it with a response. She is asked if this is the biggest win of her career. She responds "every fight is a journey".
Holm is patting herself on the back for digging deep and overcoming the horrific memory of the knockout loss by stepping back in with her demon to get herself mentally reconciled. She says if her love of boxing wasn't a big deal she would have and should have retired. Because it is a big deal to her, she had to vanquish her psychological demons and correct it.
A reporter says she looked physically strong and asks if this was the best conditioned she has ever been. She says it's more mental than anything, she's just been very focused on sticking to game plan and getting it done.
"The only person in the history of women's boxing who can fill an arena and fight top opposition in front of sellout crowds is Holly Holm. The only one who comes close is Laila Ali. #1 is Holly Holm, although she isn't the highest paid she's the biggest draw. She'll go anywhere and fight anyone." - Holm's manager/promoter...some nerdy guy with a white mop-top sitting next to her.
A reporter asks Mathis if she's happy with her paycheck. She grins, shrugs, and says being a woman fighter doesn't really pay.
Mathis is asked what adjustments she made throughout the fight, or tried making. She says it was too much hugging and running, not fighting, not really her thing, there wasn't much she could do with Holm being so uncooperative.
Greg Jackson, who is an MMA trainer (but apparently worked Holm's corner?) is praising her performance, saying she boxed intelligently and avoided taking any punishment while being effective.
The podcast guys are comparing their scorecards, discussing the fight. One had 96-94 Holm, the other had a draw. They say Holm did a good job using the whole big ring. Mathis tried cutting it off, but it was too much space. They compare it to Khan vs. Maidana, with Holm being Khan and Mathis being Maidana. They say that Mathis was guilty of lots of rabbit punches but that it was canceled out by Holm's running and clinching. They feel that the 99-91 scorecard was WAY too wide. It was Dave Moretti's card. They're rolling their eyes and mocking it. That means Duane Ford and Lisa Giampa had the "reasonable" cards.
I hope someone will get this fight up on YouTube soon. I'm curious to see. Now they're working on a fight between Brækhus and Mathis to take place on the 22nd of September in Denmark. Oh, and thanks for all the updates, IB! :good
The most brutal KO I've seen in women's boxing: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1D11_B7JkQ[/ame]
In all these big fights, there always seems to be one judge who has a ridiculously wide score. I think that smells like home cooking.
Was thinking this would be the outcome. Now I hope the September date for Braekhus-Holm comes trough.

Not the best quality, hopefully the broadcast version shows up soon. Holm should have had points off for holding, it was ridiculous. Vid won't embed for some reason
