Sorry about the lack of RBR yesterday, by the way.

I had work to do.

By the moment I was freed up I was just in time for Solis to quit against Thompson. :-(

 

I finally watched this yesterday.

The draw was absolutely fair. Castillo swept the first three, IMO, repeatedly stunning Mathis with the overhand right and staying in her wheelhouse and not letting her get any extension on the jab or cross. Then in the 4th the Frenchwoman adjusted, using a lean-back hook to great effect although Castillo proved her own chin to be every bit as solid as Mathis'.

From there it was bitterly close, with Mathis probably just edging the majority of the swing rounds though I did think at least one in the second could have gone the Colombian's way - and her team clearly felt she was screwed, by the reactions after the scorecards were read.

I would love a rematch, and will mark it on my calendar if one's signed. There probably won't be anything topping it as women's FOTY, unless there is a rematch.

 

This is, btw, up there in terms of FOTY so far, irrespective of gender.

 

Burns, Alvarado or Rios even. The ladies' chins are just as good and their offensive technique superior. :deal

 

I'm torn.

On the one hand, ASM still deserves another crack at Hammer ASAP (which she has leverage to do, but that might be jeopardized by a loss in a Castillo rematch)

On the other, Castillo deserves an immediate rematch.

I haven't listened to Agalloch in - hell, probably a decade now. They still have a pretty fresh sound (but still easily deconstructed, as far as isolating and picking out the many disparate influences beyond the obvious BM, ranging folksy to doom to even a dash of progressive).
