Just shut up and fight. No one gives a sheet about Provodnikov's W/L record.

In today's market a loss does hurt a fighters career because it can hurt their earning potential. that being said you can turn things around. Look at Broner, people can say a lot a **** about him but the truth is that not to long ago he was a LW and got thrown into a fight with one of the hardest hitters in the game P4P, Broner has not fully developed into full fledged WW yet, as the old timers used to say "he doesnt have his man muscles yet". If I were Broner, I would work on my skill set (work with Sr or uncle roger) and come back even more outrageous than before. Fans will want to see him fight and the haters will buy his PPVs because not only will pay to see him on his ass again . . . they will want to buy it even more because they know he is vulnerable and they have a greater odds of seeing that than with Floyd.

Not everyone can be Floyd and fight top notch fighters almost every time he sets foot in the ring

Losing a fight is okay if done early, late career loses of long undefeated fighters usually indicate the decline phase.

If Wilder loses tomorrow or Mayweather ever loses its surely the start of a decline phase

Losing early can be a good wake up call, I am curious if Mares can be mentally strong enough to move back to 118/115. Or will the promoters/fans pressure end his career in disadvantageous weight classes :think

Average? Put down the crack pipe. Calzaghe is the greatest SMW of All time.

Calzaghe and Sven Ottke shared the exact same legacy, Ottke held & defended the more respected version version IBF vs Joe then fringe WBO, it balanced off with later Calzaghe unification

Andre Ward & RJJ are above Ottke/CalzAghe, as Calzaghe/Ottke co-existed peacefully near a decade as Undefeated 168 stars :deal

The same Jones who was later schooled by Calzaghe? The same Ward who had to cheat to beat a nearly shot Kess.

    100% it matters

Heres part of an old post below -

Look at how T Bradley is rated as a top undefeated fighter, but had he been given a loss to Pacquiao, some of the lustre would have gone and I doubt he would be given the high P4P rating. Had he been ruled unfit to continue when looking in a worse condition than Groves against Froch when fighting Provodnikov, im sure people would say he was exposed and would not be 31-0 but be 29-2 without the world title with a stoppage loss, and no undefeated record.

Do you think Bradley would have his Ring mag #3 P4P rating and be earning as well as he does had he not been given those 2 noted decisions

Its the fighter who makes a title, not the other way around :patsch.
Calzaghe and Ottke have fought several fighters the other has also beaten, but in every case Calzaghe looked the more impressive dominant fighter and was the one chasing a unification. To say they have the same legacy, did Ottke beat an undefeated Kessler, undefeated Lacy or a C Eubank. No he didnt beat anyone that good, which Calzaghe did do at SMW, before going up and beating Jones and Hopkins in a weight that suited them, in their own country.

How do you put Ward or Jones above Calzaghe or Ottke at SMW? Explain that one (this will be good :yep)

Wards best win is past best, rusty, unwell Kessler, who Calzaghe beat when prime and undefeated. In fact out of Wards top 5 wins, 2 (Kessler and Bika) are faded fighters that Calzaghe beat when prime and one is arguably not even in Calzaghes top 10 best wins.

Jones only has about 3 SMW wins of note and none are as good a SMWs as Eubank or undefeated Kessler at that.

In fact look at Ottkes SMW resume and try and tell me Jones or Wards are as good.

It was only Ottkes 13th fight when he won a world title

Ottke made 21 title defences and was a winner of 22 world title fights

Ottkes reign was impressive when you consider he wasnt a puncher and didnt have an equalizer in his fists.

    Look at who Ottke beat
