I don't even know how to type this it's so funny, but an announcer in England said Hopkins is so famous here he can't walk down the street.

    LOL.

I tell you right now I ask 40 people I know, 1 person might know who he is, and that has to be a boxing fan.

LOL The only reason that dude in the UK said that was cause they wanna make it seem like Joe Calzaghe is fighting this big megastar from the USA.. They did the same **** with Jeff Lacy and even Peter Manfredo, THey had the nerve to say Peter Manfredo was a big star from the US lol.. I don't know why they're tryin to make this out to be a big fight. Calzaghe should win this fight easy, Hopkins is freakin 43 years old cmon now. Let Calzaghe fight someone in his prime like Bad Chad Dawson! THen Ill give him props

Nah i didnt say that about Lacy and Kessler. Go check my posts. Kessler is Calzaghes biggest win and that's not saying much because Kessler hasnt really faced the best comp. And Hopkins is a 43 year old MIDDLEWEIGHT. Lets be honest here

JOE c has beaten every body put in front of hiem including to you undefeated lions that he was expected to lose to and he dominated them B-hop lost a close decison to him . plus when you take a look at there resume JC beaten the bigger men b-hop although i respect him he has solid wins at mw but his greatest wins come against blown up welter and jr mw when you take a look and all of his defenses and you match up the opponets and there records they aren't that diffrent except joe's defining fight were against fighters natural to his weight class no good or great litlle men. so i think joe has earned his respect

Where were they talking about? In England or in the US? I think if Hopkins walked down the street in Philly he'd probably attract a crowd of autograph seekers and people wanting to shake his hand. Probably in a lot of urban areas around the country as well. Basically any neighbourhood where there are a lot of African Americans, Hopkins would be pretty well known. In the suburbs he isn't, but in urban, especially east coast environments he'd definately a decently known celebrity.

Yea but what comp does Chad Dawson have? Definitly not as good as Kessler.

Chad Dawson is a highly talented fighter and i expect him to go on to achieve p4p status and to eventually rule the LHW divison.

But exactly how much credit would JC get for beating him?

People before the fight would say how great a win it would be.

IF JC should emerge victorious, they would get all smart in hindsight and cite the fact that Dawsons best win is over a limited Adamek and that all JC had ever did was beat unproven prospects like Lacy, Dawson and Kessler(even though all have been title holders).

The fight makes no sense for Calzaghe until Dawson beats someone likes Woods, Erdei or even Tarver.

If people don't know who Hopkins is then it's fair to say they don't really know Calzaghe as well because Joe has been mentioning Hops in almost every single post-fight interview ( Woodhall, Will McIntyre ( to Jim Gray and in Showtime, undercard of Tyson-Nielsen), Brewer and more)... As far as styles go, Cal struggled with Woodhall who lost to Keith Holmes who lost emphatically to Bernard... And if Hops is old, Cal has had many more injuries being younger - fighting one-handed with 5'7'' tall and 35 years old Evans Ashira in September, 2005... Ashira was punching at waist-level against Cal and still Joe damaged his left hand in round 3 and "adjusted" till round 12... Actually, Jim Gray asked that thing about shoulders and hands injuries to Calzaghe in Denmark, and you know what he said? He said that Omar Sheika and Richie Woodhall were very close to Bernard's level... I'm sure Joe would say the same about Morrade Hakkar had the former european champion not been pulled out of his title fight against Hops by his own promoter.
