..., the team of announcers in Hops RJJ, even though they clearly understood Hops was taking a breather and hoping the ref would take points. It made me laugh how, after that brawl after the bell and all the dustup, they separate them and you see Roy standing there all worked up with a kind of "let's go" face and his crew all worked up around him and then they cut to Hops and he's sitting on his stool, drinking water. :yep Vintage Hops. Fight turned out more enjoyable than expected, though it slowed down at the end. The ending was very anticlimactic. The stoppage in Ruiz Haye was uncalled for, as was the one in the undercard fight with the guy from Ghana). Haye's defence and movement SUCK! He has good reflexes and sense of when the punches will come and he can move away from them, but then after he leans away he stays in the spot instead of moving away and gets pounded on. He doesn't have a sense of where to move and when.
I kind of agree with your take on Haye's defence... he seemed more than capable of getting out of harms way, but at times he was pulling back and leaving his head there to be hit... almost like he was trying to get hit? Wierd...:huh But, I do think the stoppage was proper by his corner... As much as I would have liked to see him hit the canvas a few more times, Ruiz was done. He was already busted up, taking increasing punishment from a hard banger... and he had virtually no chance at turning the tide by then... So why leave him in to get more brain damage for nothing? :tired His corner did him a favor.
I found it more bizzare how they kept on about how "well cut" these 2 40 + year old fighters were. ****ing commentate on the fight and stop wanking off you ***gots.
Your opening gambit is flawed on many levels. It was bizarre because Hopkins never even got hit hard the 3 times he decided to ***** himself out to make cringe-worthy sub-B-movie acting performances. That is truly bizarre for a guy who clearly had the upper hand. He disgraced and embarrassed himself against a shot-to-**** Glass Jaw Roy Jones. This is irrefutable. On the Haye v Ruiz fight, this was no early stoppage. His corner waved the towel in the 9th, after Ruiz's bloodied nose was getting further embedded into the right side of his swollen dial.
He had the upper hand but he wasn't busting him up, he was landing mostly on gloves and RJJ wasn't out of the fight. What are the other levels my opening gambit is flawed on? Who's the lady in your avatat?
John Ruiz was in an entertaining fight. Sergio Mora was in an entertaining fight. Jason Litzau displayed characterisitcs of a good/decent chin. I'd say "bizarre" describes Saturday night fairly well.
