    Cute saying chief.
    Whose a democrat?
Again - why is the younger generations responsible for decisions made by 40-70y.o. broadcasting industry types?

You seem to be, you speak negatively about those rare few that speak the truth.

Mama Mia Mouth is by far the worst sports commentator ever. The cringe is difficult to express in words. Everything about him annoys me, from his backstory of having mental health issues and making that part of his brand, to his stint with WWE as Smackdown commentator when he didn't show up one week but wasn't fired and then came back and it was awkward as hell.

The fact that he's somehow worked his persona and commentary style into something that appeals to anyone let alone the average sports fan says a lot about the current state of sports commentary, which granted compared to decades ago is seriously lacking.

    "But he's loud"
"And he says Mama Mia when something big happens"
"And he has that constipated look when he's on camera"

He's atrocious in every way, and it's so bad that I have to constantly mute the volume when he says anything, like when he does one of those prolonged intros during Round 1. The worst part is that he thinks he's somehow enhancing the broadcast, and obviously the network keeps hiring him. He has no clue what or how a sports commentary is supposed to present the action. He's just all over the place and everything that comes out of his mouth sounds forced or downright bizarre. And the outbursts are just incredibly cringe. He constantly hijacks the natural flow of a boxing match.

If sports commentary was an art form, this guy would be the proverbial beating of a dead horse, or taking a chainsaw to it.

The art of broadcasting a sports event is something that I'm very passionate about, and almost nobody these days does it even remotely as good as it was done in the past. By past I mean the 1980s, the 1990s, even the early 2000s before everything started to change for the worse.

I have a real problem with this guy, but in general the standard is so poor across the board when it comes to boxing announcers (at least here in America, since the HBO days) that almost no sports commentators these days are satisfactory. But he's the worst, the absolute worst and it's not even close. And that's saying a lot.

When he was doing Pride I will say that he sounded far better than he does today. MMA was supposedly his wheelhouse, and remember, that was 20 years ago!! 20 years ago that was back when the bar for being a good commentator was much higher. It was still borderline like an art from back then, for anyone involved in sports.

So look, back then, when he was doing MMA, he was much, much better than he is today. He sort of fit into that Pride MMA mold, this was before he started having mental breakdowns and all this stuff, this was before he started shilling out for any opportunity he could get, be it boxing or WWE.

What happened to this guy is that his brand was that he was some kind of an MMA expert, who called MMA matches, and then he suddenly starts pretending to be a boxing expert, and trying to bring the MMA vibe over to boxing.

This is the problem. Boxing's different, MMA, especially 20 years ago, had a different feel to it. It would be like Joe Rogan trying to be Jim Lampley, it's just doesn't translate well. I would agree though that yeah, 20 years ago, he sounds pretty good calling Pride MMA compared to his horrendous boxing coverage over the last 10 years or however long it's been.

He's gotten far more annoying over the years since those days, and just the idea that a guy who became well known for calling MMA became the main boxing commentator for Showtime and now Showtime-less PBC, it should be insulting to boxing fans in the same way that boxing fans are insulted when an MMA fighter thinks he can do boxing. But it's even worse than that, because this guy got progressively worse, and he's an MMA transplant.
