For Canadian amateur boxing, does anyone know what the urinalysis (labetix) is testing for? Is it just a health thing for kidneys etc. or are they testing for substances? Next to Urinalysis on the sheet it just says: Sugar___ Protein___ Blood___. ...Just out of curiosity, I've never been told anything afterward they just say good to go.
I think you mean labstix. If you have elevated sugar levels you have diabetes. If you have protein/blood in your urine that could mean a million different things, so they would probably send you for further evaluation to see what the underlying cause is, and to see whether that would impair your ability to participate in boxing/make boxing dangerous for you.
I can't be sure myself, but when I worked for an insurance company, those were standard items they would check for in a urinalysis when determining someone's general health when underwriting an insurance application. So that seems in line with withoutwire's suggestion. I doubt they would be checking for substances. If there's a time to do that, the most appropriate time to do it is before fights, and heck - they don't even do that. You could be a roided up competitor on meth for all they know. Don't get any ideas...lol.
