Another British title classic

Linus tweeted earlier just saying "What a great fight" refreshing instead of sour grapes the following day.

 

Friday night British title fights when they are good, are a joy to watch.

Loved the smaller ring too. Way more entertaining.

 

We really don’t ask for much as boxing fans. Stick 2 evenly matched guys in the ring for a British title and we’re happy. If people put as much focus on matchmaking as they do big fancy events, lights and fireworks we’d be laughing.

 

The great thing about the lockdown shows was that you could hear the trainers between rounds. No music, no crowd hype and no sweet bloody Caroline.

 

Why is this such a hit with the boxing crowd? Has no relevance to the sport.

 

Richie is superb at summarising the action while dropping in the odd technical point without patronising the audience.

 

Great fight, I had Bentley winning by a couple of rounds but there were quite a few which were tough to score. Linus was able to hang on at times, but also had his moments for sure in the first 4-5 rounds. Bentley seems to be a slow starter in these type of fights, but when he puts his punches together he is a very good boxer and great to watch.

An evenly matched British title fight is every bit as good and often better than a world title fight for me and always has been.

Hope we see more match ups like this. It's hugely beneficial to a fighter and prepares them for the next step up like nothing else can.

 

According to Wasserman Boxing, there were more than 1 million viewers for the fight friday night on Channel 5.
