Fair comment. There was a point when Povetkin looked ready to go, and I was a bit disappointed Wladimir didn't go for the kill. But overall, it was another dominant performance by Dr Steelhammer.
He won it easy but it was a **** fight to watch. Also pretty embarrassing that it went 12 rounds seen as Povetkin was blowing out of his arse after 6 or 7.
The most exciting fighter in boxing history is HBO's new fighter Crawford! LOL! Hell, if that is what HBO likes, they should just quit boxing and give it all to Showtime and EPIX! Vlad needs to fire Banks and hire Stevenson's trainer from the Kronk Gym, or even Roach! Vlad has all the tools, can end a fight very quickly, but someone is a bad influence. After watching Banks blow the Mitchell fight, I suspect him............
Wlad wasn't completely himself, the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw his face in the ring. I don't know, maybe the pressure of Moscow was the reason and also the last fact that the last time Wlad fought east of Germany was vs Purity. Still, accepting a lot of criticism of Wlad's performance last night, most fail to notice that Povetkin was made look absolutely atrocious in this fight. He spent half the fight with his head stuck into Wlad's midsection, gasping for air. It was Povetkin who initiated plenty of clinches, not just Wlad. And he was supposed to be the man with an inside game. Go figure. All-in-all, an ugly, sickening fight from an aesthetic point of view but without any question marks about Wlad's continuing dominance. I also think that style-wise Wlad will look a lot more impressive vs an upright Pulev than against a ducking and lounging Povetkin.
The cards say so, but watch it closer - Wlad was pretty much spent after the 7th round, his legs tripping often. In the 12th he couldn't wait for the final bell to ring.
I am thoroughly enjoying reading posts by a few clowns around here how style points matter in 119-104 blowout with 4 knockdowns to complete the picture.
If he gets knockout victories in his next fights people will forgive him and forget him this performance. It was a similar case after he fought Ibragimov, people were disgusted by that performace but fogave him after his knockouts of Chagaev and Peter.
It's a words play. I'm not comparing Wlad's condition to Povetkin (the difference too obvious). All I'm saying is that this fight on the defence cost Wlad more than the one vs Wach when he literally spent 12 rounds beating the **** out of the Pole. Cost him more than the Haye fight.
